Description

The HR Generalist supports day-to-day human resources operations and serves as a resource for employees and managers across key HR functions, including employee relations, recruitment, compliance, training, onboarding, and benefits. This role assists in supporting the employee lifecycle and contributes to initiatives that promote a positive and compliant workplace. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, approachable, and capable of managing multiple priorities while applying sound judgment and maintaining confidentiality.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Provide guidance to managers and employees regarding HR policies, employee relations, and workplace matters.
  • Assist with employee relation issues, including conducting preliminary investigations, resolving employee concerns, and recommending appropriate action in alignment with company policies and legal guidelines.
  • Support compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws, including recordkeeping, wage and hour, and safety requirements.
  • Partner with leadership to maintain a respectful, inclusive, and compliant workplace culture.

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

  • Support recruitment efforts for exempt and non-exempt roles, including posting jobs, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and coordinating onboarding activities.
  • Assist in implementing recruiting strategies that align with workforce needs.
  • Coordinate onboarding processes, including preparation of offer letters, background checks, I-9s, and new hire orientation.

Performance & Training

  • Assist managers with the performance management process, including goal setting, feedback documentation, and tracking performance concerns.
  • Help coordinate training programs and professional development initiatives.
  • Maintain awareness of HR trends and best practices to support continuous improvement.

HR Operations & Systems

  • Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data, supporting reporting, audits, and compliance tracking.
  • Participate in the review and development of HR policies and procedures to reflect organizational needs and compliance standards.
  • Assist with annual processes such as open enrollment, performance reviews, and compensation administration.

KEY SKILLS: 

  • Working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices across employee relations, recruitment, performance management, and compliance.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
  • Ability to support recruiting and onboarding processes efficiently and effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and foster collaboration.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive HR initiatives through to completion.
  • Team-oriented, with a proactive and service-focused approach.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years of HR experience in a generalist or related role. 
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be able to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting.
  • Perform repetitive tasks such as typing and clicking. 
  • Must be able to lift and move light items up to 20 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to bend, reach, push, pull, lift, and sit.
