Help Build the Future of High-Purity Minerals at The Stewart Companies

About Chesapeake Minerals

At Chesapeake Minerals, we’re transforming raw materials into high-performance mineral products used in industries that shape the modern world. As part of The Stewart Companies — a diversified group of businesses with more than 1,300 employees across the Mid-Atlantic — we combine industrial innovation with a long-term commitment to sustainability, quality, and people.

Operating alongside York Building Products’ Belvedere plant, we process over 10,000 tons of alluvial sand and gravel daily and produce specialized low-iron quartz materials and ultra-high-purity silica products for a growing customer base. In 2024, we expanded our capabilities with new wet and dry grinding mills, allowing us to produce customized silica powders to exact customer specifications.

We’re growing, investing, and looking for curious, hands-on problem solvers who want to make a real impact.

What You’ll Do

As our Process Engineer, you’ll be at the center of plant performance, process optimization, and product quality. One day you may be troubleshooting production challenges on the floor, and the next you could be analyzing data trends, improving automation systems, or leading a process improvement initiative.

If you enjoy turning complex processes into efficient, reliable systems — and like seeing your work make a measurable difference — this role is for you.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Analyze and optimize quartz beneficiation and silica processing operations
  • Improve plant efficiency, reliability, and product quality
  • Troubleshoot process and equipment issues with production teams
  • Collect and analyze process data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • Develop and refine operating procedures and process documentation
  • Support CAPEX and OPEX projects from planning through implementation
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and quality teams to drive continuous improvement
  • Implement process controls and SPC techniques to reduce variability
  • Lead process validation and root cause analysis efforts
  • Train and support plant personnel on new systems, procedures, and equipment
  • Jump in and support plant operations when needed — we’re a team-first environment

What Success Looks Like

You’ll help us:

  • Maximize plant performance and operational efficiency
  • Consistently hit product quality targets
  • Improve reliability, throughput, and process control
  • Support a safe, sustainable, and high-performing operation

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Analytical and data-driven
  • Comfortable working both in the plant and behind the computer
  • A strong communicator and collaborative teammate
  • Naturally curious with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Hands-on, adaptable, and eager to solve problems

Experience with manufacturing, mineral processing, process engineering, quality systems, or industrial operations is highly valued.

Why Join Chesapeake Minerals?

Because this isn’t just another engineering role.

Here, you’ll work in a growing operation where your ideas matter, your projects have visibility, and your work directly impacts production and innovation. You’ll join a company committed to:

  • Sustainable development and environmental stewardship
  • Investing in modern technology and future growth
  • Building a culture of safety, teamwork, and accountability
  • Developing talented people and promoting long-term careers

Schedule
