COVIDCheck Colorado (CCC) is a social benefit enterprise of the Gary Community Investments Company. Our mission is to empower our partners to return safely to community and enable the most proactive and equitable response to COVID-19 in the country. Since July 2020, we have facilitated over 250,000 COVID-19 tests in the state of Colorado, been tapped as one of CDPHE’s leading community testing partners, and served nearly 100 client organizations ranging from grassroots community organizations to major public sector clients and Fortune 50 companies.


Description of role:


COVIDCheck Colorado is looking for a Public Health Program Manager to serve as a deputy to the Chief Public Health Officer and help CCC achieve its mission to help Coloradans return safely to school and work.


The Public Health Program Manager will need the versatility of a generalist and the ability to go deep very quickly on a wide variety of public health-related subjects. Good candidates will be self-starters, terrific communicators, excellent at anticipating problems and developing solutions for them, and fun to work with--even under stressful conditions.


The Public Health Program Manager won’t just be support staff, they’ll be expected to own, manage and execute a variety of projects and operational areas with a high degree of autonomy. This person will need the ability and willingness to do both high-level strategy work as well as detail-oriented tactical jobs.  


As both a startup and an emergency response organization, CCC is a very fast-paced, fast-changing work environment that requires all employees to be adaptable, smart, highly collaborative, solutions-oriented and willing to help solve problems across many different parts of the organization.  



Requirements

Key skills include:

  • Excellent, versatile writing skills that will be needed to draft strategic plans, recommendation memos, official communications, research reports and other documents.
  • Great strategic and critical thinking skills. Candidates must have the ability to take large, complex, messy problems, apply sound strategic frameworks and thinking, and develop feasible, clear solutions. The ability to think fast and solve problems on-the-fly are essential, as is the ability to develop broad and highly targeted strategic and operational plans.
  • Excellent project management. Steady, organized, capable project management will be critical for success in this role.  Excelling at both formal project management as well as informal organizational, sequenced, phased thinking and execution of projects is central to this job--as is the ability to simply get things done.

Other important skills and attributes include:

  • Strong research capabilities, ability to quickly learn and understand research topics. 
  • Comfort and proficiency with data analysis, ability to draw insights from data and develop detailed actions plan from insights and trends.
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills, ability to be clear, concise, and compelling while giving a presentation.
  • Strong proficiency with Google Docs and Microsoft 360--with a particular strength in spreadsheets and deck-building. 
  • Outstanding social and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity of key public health concepts including epidemiology, health and safety, and research.
  • A good working knowledge of the key medical, public health, and policy factors affecting COVID-19 testing and vaccination. Candidates do not need to have done COVID-19 related work previously, but must exhibit a good baseline level of knowledge and proficiency with the key concepts and latest developments.


Preferred experience and qualifications

  • 5+ years working in the fields of public health and/or health care (preferred, not required)
  • MPH, MBA, JD, PhD or other relevant advanced degree (preferred, not required)


Compensation & Benefits:

  • This is full-time, contract position
  • We anticipate the COVIDCheck program to run until June1, 2021
  • The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $90,000
