Internal Auto Damage Adjuster
Description

POSITION MISSION: Reviews estimates from body shops and independent adjusters to determine the most cost-effective resolution of physical damage claims. Responsible for preparing estimates for Rockingham, handling total losses for insureds and claimants, and monitoring rental vehicle usage.

POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Determines most cost-effective solution to resolving physical damage claims, including utilization of aftermarket parts and salvage parts
  • Writes estimates utilizing CCC estimating software
  • Negotiates with claimants, carriers, and attorneys to reach fair and equitable settlement
  • Monitors rental for both insureds and claimants
  • Researches and maintains knowledge of compliance requirements, including the Fair Claims Practices Act
  • Understands, responds to, and relays emerging issues impacting claims adjustment and loss control
  • Completes timely, accurate reporting and documentation of reserve claim information 
  • Adequate reporting and documentation of all reserve and claim information on a timely basis to allow for proper tracking, statistical analysis and review by claims management
  • Maintains accurate and comprehensive claim file documentation 


Other Duties:

  • Pursues subrogation and/or arbitration, when applicable
  • Support Auto Damage Supervisor as requested
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Familiarity with the automobile estimating process and total loss handling for vehicles
  • Familiar with LKQ parts, aftermarket parts along with salvage handling
  • Provide superior customer service to policyholders, agents, and co-workers
  • Displays a clear understanding of who their customer is (internal and external)
  • Exhibits a sound understanding of department goals and objectives
  • Working knowledge and effective utilization of technology, including Microsoft Office
  • Uses professional language, tone and style, in all oral and written communications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3 + years’ experience handling automobile physical damage claims, preferably in Virginia
  • Experience with either Mitchell or CCC estimate software required
  • Prior field auto damage experience preferred 
  • High school diploma or GED required, associate or bachelor’s degree preferred

Salary Description
$55,137 to $75,814
