Part-Time Sales Associate

Department: Museum Store

Reports to: Assistant Store Manager
Status: Part-time, Non-Exempt

Pay-rate: $15/hour
Work schedule: Non-standard including weekdays, evenings, and weekends 

(ability to work both Saturday and Sunday every week is required)

Scope of the position:
The Sales Associate assists in the daily operations of the Museum store, including assisting and serving customers, closing sales and performing sales transactions; restocking merchandise and assisting with merchandise displays.


Primary Responsibilities 

  • Practice exceptional customer service.
  • Must enjoy dealing with the general public, including large groups of school children and tour groups.
  • Utilize effective sales techniques.
  • Accurately handle all sales transactions.
  • Accurately open, close and balance the cash register.
  • Maintain current knowledge of merchandise.
  • Provide support for store operations by creating and maintaining displays as directed.
  • Monitor store environment, straightening and cleaning as needed.
  • Assist in restocking the sales floor as directed by the Assistant Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements


Education, Experience, and Certification

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years retail sales experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of computer, cash register, and calculator skills a must.

Key Qualifications:

  • Ability to work weekdays, weekends and evenings. 
  • Able to work both Saturday and Sunday every week. 
  • A friendly, approachable, outgoing, people-oriented personality is critical.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle large crowds.
  • Ability to work with staff, DMA members, and the general public in a professional and courteous manner.
