Description
The Dishwasher plays a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen, ensuring the efficient operation of dishwashing equipment, and supporting the overall dining experience for our residents.
Schedule: Part-Time, Weekdays, Weekends, 8 hour shifts
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Operation dishwashing equipment, to clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots, pans, trays, and kitchen equipment.
- Sort and stack clean dishes and utensils in designated storage areas, ensuring proper organization, hygiene, and accessibility for kitchen staff.
- Remove trash and recyclables from kitchen areas, emptying garbage cans, compost bins, and recycling bins as needed, and disposing of waste according to facility procedures.
- Assist with general cleaning and sanitation tasks in the kitchen including sweeping and mopping floors, wiping down countertops and surfaces, and sanitizing equipment and workstations.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of dishwashing areas, including dish racks, sinks, drains, and storage shelves, to meet health department regulations and facility standards.
- Assist kitchen staff with food preparation tasks, such as peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients, as directed by supervisors.
- Adhere to food safety and hygiene practices, including proper handwashing, glove use, and temperature monitoring, to prevent cross-contamination and ensure food safety.
- Follow safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries in the kitchen, including proper handling of knives, hot surfaces, and chemical cleaning agents.
- Assist with receiving and storing deliveries of food and supplies, verifying quantities and quality of items, and stocking shelves and storage areas as directed.
- Collaborate with dietary staff, including Cooks, Dietary Aides, and Supervisors to support kitchen operations, meet production schedules, and maintain cleanliness standards.
- Perform all other duties as requested by management.
Requirements
Job Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a food service or kitchen environment preferred.
- Basic knowledge of food safety regulations, sanitation practices, and kitchen hygiene standards.
- Ability to operate dishwashing equipment and perform basic maintenance tasks as needed.
- Attention to detail and cleanliness, with the ability to follow instructions and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Committed to providing high-quality dining experiences and excellent customer service to residents and their families.
Physical Requirements:
- Work performed in a medical setting due to the need to work directly with kitchen equipment.
- Must be able to sit, stand, bend, reach, talk, hear, stoop, kneel, crouch, stretch, and twist.
- Stamina to stand for extended periods while operating dishwashing equipment and performing cleaning tasks in the kitchen.
- Capability to lift and carry heavy racks of dishes, trays, and pots, weighing up to 20lbs, as needed during dishwashing and storage activities.
- Proficiency in performing tasks that require manual dexterity, such as loading and unloading dishes, stacking plates, and handling utensils.
- Knowledge of and adherence to safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries in the kitchen, including proper use of protective equipment and safe handling of cleaning agents.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to hazardous chemicals, infections, waste, blood and body fluid, diseases, and conditions prevalent at the time.
- Required vision includes close, vision, distance, peripheral, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Maintain regular attendance and timeliness as set forth within the work schedule designated by the department supervisor/manager.
Salary Description
$16 - $18 Per Hour
