Description

 

The Procurement and Data Strategist is responsible for maintaining vendor relationships and ensuring that needed parts from assigned vendors are available and stocked at Betts Company branches. This role supports vendor communication, procurement activity, inventory tracking, and coordination of product movement throughout the branch network. The position plays a key role in maintaining ERP accuracy related to costing, inventory counts, and inventory turns, while supporting productive workflow across departments, promoting customer satisfaction, and upholding The Betts Way in all supply chain activities. 


This position maintains primary vendor relationships, communicates upcoming specials or concerns to the team, reviews branch part usage, order points, and stock levels, and creates stock orders as needed to ensure product availability at the branches. The role also reviews emergency orders for assigned vendors and determines the best fulfillment method, including transfers, distribution center stock, or direct shipment from the vendor. Additional responsibilities include updating branches on shipping or ordering delays caused by supply chain issues, participating in vendor meetings, monitoring shipment forecasts, maintaining product cross-references in the ERP system, recording and reporting branch lost sales, loading price files, running inventory audit lists, reviewing online special requests, creating axle build assembly part numbers when needed, assisting with call center overflow, and representing the company professionally with vendors, customers, and internal teams. 

Requirements

 

The Procurement and Data Strategist position requires one to two years of related experience, preferably in purchasing, warehouse, or distribution roles. The employee should be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, and have experience working with MRP or ERP systems. Experience in customer service and the heavy-duty transportation industry is preferred. The role requires strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently.


The ideal candidate must be able to follow detailed written and verbal instructions, manage time effectively, stay organized, and communicate clearly across teams and vendors. This role requires the ability to proactively identify and report shipping or inventory issues, use strong numeracy skills to measure, count, and calculate rates and percentages, and work comfortably with business systems, production schedules, order documentation, inventory and shipping software, label printers, packaging tools, desktop computers, tablets, standard office equipment, and required personal protective equipment. The employee must also be able to meet the physical demands of the position, with reasonable accommodation provided as applicable.
