Role Overview:

The Quality Inspector will be a member of the Quality Team, reporting to the Quality Manager in Manufacturing. This position will be responsible for ensuring that incoming material, parts, components, and final product meet all designated quality specifications. The Quality Inspector will also coordinate product acceptance, reporting of inspection results and production/test data, while working with the Manager Manufacturing and the Quality Manager to drive production quality and continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspecting and approving incoming materials, parts, and components by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
  • Inspecting in-process production by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, communicating required adjustments to production supervisor.
  • Approving finished products by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, returning products for re-work, and confirming re-work.
  • Documenting inspection results by completing reports and logs, summarizing re-work and waste, and inputting data into quality database.
  • Keeping measurement and testing equipment operating by following operating instructions and calibration requirements and calling for repairs.
  • Maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
  • Providing user feedback to the development teams on product quality and defects.
Requirements

Basic (Required) Qualifications:

  • High School diploma.
  • Basic computer skills and math skills.
  • Minimum two years of experience with quality control in manufacturing/assembly.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, specifications, and blueprints.
  • Ability to operate with calipers, micrometers, rulers, gauges, and other measuring instruments.
  • Experience in inspection, testing and measuring products against specifications, while producing required documentation.
  • Ability to analyze testing data and make calculations to get required results.
  • Interpersonal skills, initiative, and commitment to work in a team.
  • Physical requirements and working conditions: Must possess mobility to work in a manufacturing environment. Standing: Frequent while performing inspection activities in the receiving and manufacturing areas. Walking: Frequent - Moving on foot while working in the receiving and manufacturing areas. Level Reaching: Occasional – as needed, during inspection activities.

Machines & Equipment:

  • Testing equipment positioned in designated test cells.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Are flexible and quick study.
  • Are detail and process oriented.
  • Have experience with quality control skills (e.g., Six Sigma).
  • Have experience working in a Quality Management System driven environment.
  • Enjoy working and driving improvement in a team environment.
