Position Summary
The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the daily accounting operations of the organization by maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reconciliations, assisting with financial reporting, and supporting month-end close activities. This role contributes to the overall financial integrity of the organization by ensuring compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of handling multiple responsibilities while working collaboratively within the accounting team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
- Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- Perform general ledger account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries and accruals.
- Prepare financial reports and assist with financial statement preparation.
- Analyze financial information and summarize financial status for management review.
- Monitor expenses and assist with budget preparation and variance analysis.
- Assist with forecasting activities and tracking departmental spending.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules, depreciation records, and inventory reconciliations.
- Assist with payroll accounting entries, benefit accruals, and payroll reconciliations.
- Support internal and external audit requests by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
- Assist with preparation and filing of tax returns, sales tax filings, and other regulatory reporting.
- Review accounting procedures and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with departments across the organization to resolve accounting issues and improve financial processes.
- Prepare ad hoc reports and perform special projects as assigned.
- Provide backup support for other accounting team functions as needed.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience preferred.
- Experience in healthcare or multi-location environments preferred.
- Working knowledge of GAAP and standard accounting procedures.
- Experience with accounting software and ERP systems preferred.

Physical Demands
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. May occasionally require travel to other company locations.
