The Director of Accounting at Grand Welcome will lead the accounting department, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and effective management of the company's accounting processes. This leadership role will involve overseeing daily accounting operations, developing and implementing policies and procedures, and providing financial data and insights to support executive management and operational decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the accounting team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies, internal controls, and procedures in compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
- Manage preparation of financial statements, reports, and disclosures for internal and external stakeholders, including monthly reporting packages for executive leadership.
- Coordinate and support external audits and regulatory examinations.
- Collaborate with other departments and leadership to provide financial insights and support strategic initiatives.
- Drive process improvements, systems optimization, and automation initiatives to strengthen internal controls, improve scalability and reporting accuracy, and reduce cost.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and coordinate with tax professionals on filings and planning.
- Mentor and develop accounting staff, fostering professional growth and team effectiveness.
- Oversee Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll processing functions.
- Monitor and manage cash flow, maintaining regular cash forecasts to support operational decision-making.
- Manage company bank accounts, including account reconciliations and maintaining appropriate controls over banking activity.
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance, providing recommendations and guidance on treatment and application.
- Support the CFO on insurance renewals and claims management, and other projects as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred.
- Seven plus (7) years progressive accounting experience with at least Two (2) years in a management role.
- Experience managing month-end close and audit processes in multi-entity environments
- Experience managing accounting teams and leading financial reporting processes.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, financial reporting and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems; experience with Sage Intacct and Guesty is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to manage priorities, build collaborative relationships, and lead a team effectively in a fully remote environment.
- Experience developing and mentoring accounting teams
- Excellent leadership , communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience in hospitality, short term rentals, property management, or real estate sectors preferred; franchise accounting experience a plus.
