FOIA SPECIALIST

Summary:


FOIA Specialist to provide FOIA/Privacy Act (PA) support services to United States Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM); support the final disposition of all records in accordance with regulations; support the implementation and administration of the FOIA/PA program for USINDOPACOM; reduce or eliminate any FOIA/PA request backlog.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the intake and initial processing of FOIA/PA requests, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and organizational policies.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders and subject matter experts to gather necessary information and documentation to respond to FOIA/PA requests.
  • Conduct research and analysis to determine the appropriate handling of sensitive and classified information.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of FOIA/PA requests, including tracking progress and deadlines.
  • Prepare responsive documents and responses, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of efficient processes and workflows for FOIA/PA intake and processing.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel and other departments as needed to ensure compliance with FOIA/PA regulations.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree,
  • Two years of FOIA Analyst experience,
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools,
  • Hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, database, spreadsheet, and telecommunications,
  • Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under fluid conditions,
  • Preferably possess current Secret security clearance or be able to pass a background investigation for a Security clearance.
