Zingerman's Coffee Company Production Staff

Employment Type: Full Time (32-40 hours per week); M-F (very occasionally weekends) 

Valid Driver’s License and Exemplary Driving Record Required


Compensation: $16 per hour 

Preference will be given to candidates that can start as soon as possible. 


Performance Expectations:

  • You’ll be responsible for producing the product that ends up in our customers’ hands in a fast paced environment
  • You’ll produce numerous products in a range of package sizes and labels
  • You’ll be responsible for how our product looks and gets shipped.
  • You’ll be responsible for accurately filling orders by pulling inventory
  • You’ll need to work with a sense of urgency
  • The job requires repetitive lifting of coffee (from 10 ounce bags to 150 pounds delivery totes)
  • You’ll be delivering to the other Zingerman’s businesses and our other local (non-ZCOB) customers
  • You may end up driving a fairly large delivery van and should be comfortable with that
  • When driving the delivery vehicle, you are responsible for representing the company in a professional manner- following our customer service recipes as needed, as well as the rules of the road. 
  • You’ll work with and learn how to use our automated equipment, UPS shipping terminal, weigh and fill equipment, grinders, some parts of the roaster, etc.
  • You’ll be responsible for maintaining a clean workplace/warehouse
  • You’ll be producing large quantities of cold brew
  • You’ll be responsible for receiving orders

Some things we want you to know:

  • We work in a warehouse – it can get hot in the summer
  • We work in a warehouse – it can get cold in the winter (but the roaster produces lots of heat!)
  • You will work in very close proximity to some heavy/loud equipment (it’s a warehouse)
  • We spend a lot of time on our feet.

Qualifications: 

Success Patterns for this position are:

  • You MUST be organized and accurate
  • You MUST have an urgency mindset.
  • You’ll need to use some fairly basic math skills on a regular basis for recipes, blending, and conversion between weights in ounces, pounds, etc.
  • In addition to being organized and accurate, you’ll need to be efficient and neat (tidy)
  • The delivery position requires you to have a driver’s license and have a safe driving record
  • We expect you to think about how and why we do things and suggest ideas and methods to increase our efficiency and accuracy
  • Can work within given time constraints (time and speed are a factor)
  • Can work occasional long shifts during peak periods of production (particularly during November and December) and occasionally throughout the year.
  • You’ll be expected to learn and get certified to use the forklift

Physical Demands 

  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds routinely, and up to 150 pounds.
  • Comfortable standing, lifting and bending for the duration of shift. 
  • Able to drive two or more hours at a time.
