We are seeking a proactive and experienced HSE professional who is passionate about workplace safety, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement to join our team.
This position is responsible for leading and managing all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) functions for the operation. Reporting to the General Manager, the HSE Manager ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and ISO standards while promoting a strong culture of workplace safety, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement. Key duties include overseeing safety programs, audits, inspections, incident investigations, environmental compliance, ISO management systems, employee training, emergency preparedness, and quality assurance processes. The role also manages the HSE budget, supports operational excellence across production activities, and works closely with employees, contractors, and leadership to maintain safe, compliant, and efficient operations.
Detailed Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure production teams comply with health, safety, environmental and quality standards
- Monitor production activities to ensure all operations comply with company policies, legal regulations, and industry standards relating to workplace safety, product quality, and environmental requirements.
- Conduct inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Provide training and promote continuous improvement.
- Provide appropriate resources and training and encourage a culture of continual improvement.
- Ensure Management of Change has been fully considered before implementation of process improvements or modifications.
- Ensure Quality incidents and defects are captured in HSEQ database, and the appropriate investigations are completed
- Manage HSE annual budget.
- Encourage and facilitate good employee/management communication and morale.
- Coordinate and provide training to employees and production teams on ISO requirements, safe work practices, quality procedures, and compliance obligations to ensure consistent application across all production activities.
- Ensure compliance with legal, statutory, and duty-of-care obligations when overseeing projects.
- Champion a safety culture which is consistent with the safety objectives and strategies set out in the GMA Global Safety Policy.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the safety of Mining USA employees by promoting safety as a core GMA value, regularly discussing safety issues and initiatives with team members, and actively contributing to continuous safety improvement.
- Comply with GMA safety and health requirements including all issued policies, rules, procedures guidelines and notices.
- Comply with all regulatory requirements.
- Oversee all regulatory inspections involving the Mine Safety and Health Administration
- Ensure all employees and contractors are compliant with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Participate in emergency response actions in accordance with the Emergency Response Management Plan.
- Conduct safety training and development efforts.
- Facilitate mine site-specific safety training for new employees, contractors, vendors, and visitors.
- Conduct mock emergencies/evacuations.
- Conduct and record site safety inspections and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Maintain and accurately log various safety and training documents.
- Track incident trends and company safety performance.
- Perform routine incident trending, research, and presentations related to Health and Safety performance.
- Conduct incident investigations and root cause analyses.
- Conduct routine Industrial Hygiene sampling.
- Maintain supplies of safety and first aid equipment and consumables
- Manage site Environmental program, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, policies, rules, procedure guidelines and notices.
- Monitor mining and processing activities for compliance with MSHA and company policies and procedures.
- Oversee and Report on the performance of site Management Systems including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
- Lead the development, application, training, reporting, and continuous improvement of ISO procedures, policies, and documentation to ensure compliance with relevant standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001.

· Associate or Bachelor of Science in Occupational Safety and Health preferred.
· 2+ years MSHA experience required.
· 5+ years Industrial Safety experience preferred
· Experience in ventilation monitoring.
· Public water system experience preferred.
· Experience in air and noise monitoring.
· Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
· High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
· Strong commitment to safety and a continuous improvement culture.
· Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
· Sound leadership skills, including the ability to coach, train, and influence the behavior of others.
· Hold or be able to obtain an MSHA blue card.
