Team Leader – Paint Department

Department: Paint
Reports To: Paint, Trim & Inspection Supervisor
Location: Palmer Hamilton, LLC – Elkhorn, WI


Position Overview

Palmer Hamilton is seeking a motivated and hands-on Team Leader to oversee daily operations in our Paint Department. This role is responsible for driving production performance, ensuring high-quality output, and maintaining a safe, efficient work environment. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing setting and is committed to continuous improvement and team development.


Key Responsibilities

Production Coordination & Scheduling

  • Assign and prioritize tasks to meet production schedules and operating plans
  • Monitor workflow and adjust resources to maintain efficiency and output goals

Problem Solving & Collaboration

  • Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to identify and resolve operational challenges
  • Promote a collaborative, solutions-focused team environment

Safety Leadership

  • Ensure full compliance with safety policies and procedures
  • Conduct regular safety checks, audits, and training to maintain a safe workplace

Operational Support

  • Serve as a backup for team members as needed to maintain uninterrupted operations
  • Cross-train employees to ensure coverage and flexibility across key functions

Housekeeping & Equipment Care

  • Lead and support housekeeping initiatives within the paint booth and department areas
  • Maintain clean, organized, and properly functioning equipment and workspaces

Special Projects

  • Support department initiatives and projects as assigned by leadership
  • Demonstrate flexibility in taking on new responsibilities and challenges

  • Take ownership of departmental production results, including quality and efficiency
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity

Operational Knowledge

  • Maintain a strong understanding of department processes and overall business performance
  • Use data and insights to support decision-making and forecasting

Record Keeping & Reporting

  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of production and departmental metrics
  • Leverage data to track performance and identify opportunities for improvement

Communication & Team Engagement

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with team members and leadership
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment

Team Development & Leadership

  • Build a strong, cohesive team by recognizing strengths and supporting development

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma required
  • Additional coursework or technical training preferred

Technical Skills

  • Experience with computer-integrated manufacturing systems
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, including creating and interpreting reports

Experience

  • Prior leadership experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred
  • Strong understanding of paint processes and quality standards
