The Supplier Quality Engineer will be highly involved with the qualification, development, and continued management of suppliers and service providers. This included future organizational partnerships with contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs), Private Label manufacturers and/or ProAlliance partners. This position will also be responsible for resolving and preventing issues with all types of suppliers and manufacturers in addition to creating a strong positive lasting relationship with all key partners.
This position will report directly to the Supplier Quality Manager and will work under the additional guidance of the Director of Quality and Senior Quality Assurance Manager.
Key Job Responsibilities:
· Interaction with all suppliers and manufacturers to maintain qualification within the corporate requirements of supplier management (i.e., qualification/re-qualification activities including maintaining the organization’s ASL – Approved Supplier List).
· Manage external manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with customer and corporate requirements.
· Serve as a supplier liaison, including working with Supply Chain on supplier agreements.
· Investigate supplier/manufacturer investigations, and initiate SCARs when applicable.
· Identify root cause and develop CAPAs collaboratively, including continual process improvements with the supply base.
· Communicate and train suppliers, as needed, in internal inspection processes. Proactively align inspection processes, where applicable and provide technical guidance to suppliers and manufacturers. This includes, when necessary, the generation of tools such a Procurement Requirement Specification (PRS).
· Understand and generate work instructions, as needed, related to inspection and assembly activities.
· Communicate current and new processes clearly to all interested parties.
· Report on supplier performance metrics such as product quality and on-time delivery to all applicable interested parties.
· Maintain data analysis and spotting trends, including concise records and reports.
· Conduct routine audits and inspections of various sites located domestically and internationally.
· Support and contribute to, when needed, regulatory and customer inspections or audits – with regards to supplier management.
· Contribute and support corporate projects and objectives as a supplier or quality liaison.
· Managing and participating in Change Management regarding supplier related products.
Education, Skills and Experience Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in business or technical field.
· Highly desired, 4+ years in related or similar role.
· ASQ Certification(s), highly desired – CQA, CQE, CRE, or CSQP.
· Well versed in Quality Management Systems, specifically ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
· Working knowledge of auditing (i.e., system or process) in accordance with ISO 19011.
· Understand the nature of statistical sampling and sampling plans (especially – ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 and Z1.9)
· Willingness to get hands on and working directly with suppliers and manufacturers.
· Ability to work in both a collaborative and independent environment.
· Ability to communicate with a wide variety of individuals and across many cultures.
· Need to understand and demonstrate the NewAge Industries (NAI) assembly construction and processes.
· Must possess a strong analysis, critical thinking, problem-solving and communication skills.
· Proven engineering experience, particularly with FMEA, is a plus.
· Working knowledge of thermoplastic, silicone and LIMs, is a plus.
· Travel can be up to 25%, domestic and international.
