PURPOSE/SUMMARY
The Housekeeping Attendant is responsible for ensuring all assigned areas (e.g., common areas and residences) are neat, clean and tidy, and for addressing housekeeping-related guest and resident requests and issues in a timely and professional manner. The Housekeeping Attendant promotes a positive community image to residents, guest and associates and is pleasant, honest and friendly.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform day-to-day housekeeping functions and specific tasks as assigned, following the housekeeping schedule developed in cooperation with the Home Office.
- Clean, wash, polish, sanitize, deodorize and disinfect all area and items of the campus and its buildings including furnishings, fixtures, ashtrays, trash bin, windows, mirrors, floors, carpets, walls, ceilings, bathrooms, etc., using proper cleaning and disinfecting solutions and procedures.
- Ensure that work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable and attractive manner, clearly marked with caution or safety signs as required.
- Ensure work areas are free of hazardous objects and all equipment, and tools and supplies are properly stored at all times.
- Ensure that established Universal Precautions and infection control, isolation, fire safety and sanitation practices are procedures are maintained and followed when performing housekeeping duties; and, promptly report all hazardous conditions and equipment to the Housekeeping Manager.
- Maintain resident confidentiality.
- Treat residents and guests with kindness, dignity and respect.
- Know and comply with Residents’ Rights rules.
- Ensure that equipment, work and supply carts are properly cleaned and stored.
- Ensure that an adequate level of housekeeping supplies is maintained and advise the Housekeeping Manager/Director of Maintenance of supply needs.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of an atmosphere of warmth and personal interest, ensuring a positive, calm environment that is both aspirational and inspirational throughout the campus.
- Assist in the maintenance of an operating environment that assures consistent, high level of resident & guest satisfaction.
- Attend and participate in orientation, training, in-service educational activities and staff meetings and participate and assist in departmental student and projects as assigned.
- Ensure that all lighting is in proper working order; assist others in lifting heavy equipment or supplies as requested.
- Complete any other tasks, assignments, projects or requests from management.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must read, write, speak and understand English
- Previous housekeeping experience is preferred.
- Have a demonstrated affinity for and ability to work within the structure that includes active, passionate residents, enhanced living residents and inspired living residents.
- Possess the ability to deal tactfully with associates, residents, family members, visitors and the general public.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to walk, stand, sit, stoop and bend, push and pull, and reach and stretch.
- Must be able to lift and carry weight in excess of 50 lbs.
