About the Role
The Engineering Manager leads and supervises the engineering team, overseeing a wide range of responsibilities including quoting, process development, production troubleshooting, team scheduling, continuous improvement initiatives, equipment optimization, scrap reduction, drawing creation/editing, CNC programming, and mentoring team members.

Engineering Strategy
- Implement departmental goals and objectives to attain the business objectives set by the Director of Engineering, making sure goals align with overall company goals.
- Direct, and coordinate the engineering activities and resources to support company goals, objectives, and profitability of operations.
- Assist with organizing the structure of the engineering department alongside the quality department to facilitate lean, efficient, and effective performance of business operations, focused on quoting, process development, troubleshooting, and creation of engineering models and drawings.
Daily Department Management
- Ensures engineering schedules are managed effectively to hit due dates such as engineering lead times, quote turn around, and production trouble shooting.
- Ensures compliance with all rules, regulations, specifications, and laws related to areas of responsibility.
- Maximize the efficiency of production schedules through process creation and optimization, along with continuous improvement implementation to ensure effective use of both human and capital resources.
- Monitors and takes action on key performance indicators (KPIs) for the engineering department, leveraging insights to consistently assess and enhance the departments performance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Establishes, builds, and maintains positive and growth-focused customer relationships internal and external to UMC.
- Works cross functionally to ensure efficient production with a profitable outcome.
- Communicate effectively with community partners, schools, and internal stakeholders to promote collaboration.
Continuous Improvement
- Participate actively in standardization of processes, cost reduction, and continuous improvement in collaboration with other functional teams.
- Keeps abreast of new trends, innovations, and opportunities of the engineering functions within the manufacturing industry.
General
- Exhibit a working knowledge of health and safety, responsible for safety awareness, while upholding and improving the culture of safety within the organization. Identify opportunities for improvement and take action if appropriate before a problem occurs. Report potential hazards, unsafe working conditions, unsafe equipment, unsafe acts, and injuries immediately.

What You’ll Bring:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred) or equivalent work experience.
- 7+ years of experience in Manufacturing or Engineering, ideally in Precision Machining within Medical or Aerospace Industries.
- 3+ years managing engineering staff, technical resources, and projects.
- 5+ years of experience with Quality Management Systems,
- Experience working with ERP systems.
- Working knowledge of regulatory standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 13485, AS9100, RoHS, REACH, and ITAR.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a professional and collaborative approach
- Advanced problem-solving skills and technical expertise in materials and process technologies.
- Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, with strong business and financial insight.
