JOB SUMMARY: 

  • The Wound Care Technician supports the wound care team by preparing patient rooms, assisting with basic clinical tasks, and ensuring a clean, organized, and efficient environment. This role includes taking vital signs, cleaning and removing dressings from wounds, turning over rooms between patients, and scheduling future appointments. The Wound Care Tech plays a key role in providing excellent patient care, maintaining safety standards, and supporting the overall flow of the clinic.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Set up rooms and necessary equipment for patient visits
  • Take and document vital signs accurately
  • Clean wounds and remove dressings under clinical supervision
  • Turn over and sanitize rooms between patients following infection control procedures
  • Assist with scheduling patients and managing appointment flow
  • Engage professionally with patients, families, and team members to ensure a positive patient experience
  • Adapt to quick changes and work effectively in a fast-paced environment, long periods of standing required
  • Stocking, cleaning rooms, and ordering supplies if needed. 
Requirements

EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required/ CNA license preferred but not required.

EXPERIENCE: 

  • Willing to train the right candidate. Prior experience in a clinical, wound care, or CNA setting preferred but not required. Experience working with electronic medical records (EMR) and basic technology is preferred.

ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL MOTOR SKLLS: 

  • Ability to operate computer systems and EMR software, talk in person on the telephone, hear in person and on the telephone, vision for close work, use of photocopier, fax machine, computer. 

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: 

  • Ability to interact appropriately and professionally with patients, clinic staff, physicians, hospital staff, and the general public.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Be able to Lift 50 lbs. Requires setting, walking, standing, ability to be mobile, some bending, stooping, stretching and lifting, Requires eye and hand coordination and manual dexterity. Requires ability to move freely within the hospital setting to conduct job duties.

ESSENTIAL MENTAL ABILITIES: 

  • Ability to process information and to effectively communicate with others.

ESSENTIAL SENSORY ABILITIES: 

  • Must be able to visually receive and interpret nonverbal communications and to hear spoken communication with others.
