The G-League Assistant Athletic Trainer will support the Head Athletic Trainer in delivering comprehensive medical care and performance support for the Motor City Cruise. This role operates within a high-performing, fast-paced and Team oriented professional basketball environment, requiring excellence in clinical care, communication, and daily team operations.

  

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Work as a team with the Head Athletic Trainer and Head Performance Coach to assist in injury evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of Detroit Pistons and Motor City cruise players 
  • Provide daily treatment, recovery modalities, and taping/bracing 
  • Support return-to-play Success and load management strategies 
  • Assist with screenings and performance testing 
  • Maintain accurate, timely medical documentation
  • Implementation / support Of Pistons organization offseason programming
  • Collaboration with performance staff, coached and front office on all players Health matters

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide coverage for all practices, games, and team events 
  • Assist with game-day preparation and recovery protocols
  • Travel with team for all games and practices
  • Assist with all training room operations while maintaining a clean/consistent medical environment 
  • Assisting with ordering meals/snacks for away games
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment 
  • Support locker room setup and breakdown
  • Assist with travel logistics and equipment transport 
  • Maintain injury reports and RTP plans
  • Attend player medical appointments/surgeries 
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance
  • Providing support to Detroit Pistons as needed as well as In season, Summer League and Draft workouts
Requirements
  • 0-1 Years of Experience
  • NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer
  • Current CPR cert
  • Eligible for Michigan licensure 
  • CES/PES/CSCS/CSCCa preferred
