We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Denim Designer to support the design and development of trend-driven denim collections across private label and in-house brands. This role will be responsible for executing product from concept through production, partnering closely with Design, Product Development, Merchandising, and overseas teams to bring commercially successful product to market.
The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of denim construction, washes, fits, fabrications, and finishing techniques across a variety of product categories including bottoms, dresses, skirts, shirts, and fashion bodies. This individual should possess a keen eye for trends, embellishment, novelty wash development, and emerging market opportunities while balancing creativity with commercial execution.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop seasonal denim collections from concept through production, including jeans, shorts, skirts, dresses, shirts, jackets, and other fashion denim categories
- Create trend-right product that aligns with customer needs, brand positioning, and business objectives
- Research and identify emerging trends in silhouette, fabrication, wash techniques, embellishments, trims, and denim treatments
- Develop seasonal concepts, wash stories, color palettes, and key item strategies in partnership with Design leadership
- Create sketches, CADs, technical flats, presentation boards, and tech packs for internal reviews and customer presentations
- Partner with Design leadership on fits, fabrications, novelty wash developments, embroidery, embellishments, and fashion detailing
- Assist in fabric, trim, and wash development, ensuring alignment with design intent and cost parameters
- Review samples and provide detailed comments on design, fit, construction, washes, embellishments, and overall execution
- Track development calendars and ensure all deliverables are completed according to seasonal timelines
- Support customer presentations, line reviews, and product meetings as needed
- Partner closely with Product Development, Merchandising, Technical Design, and Sourcing teams throughout the development process
- Collaborate with Technical Design on fit approvals, garment construction details, and product execution
- Communicate regularly with overseas factories to ensure accurate interpretation and execution of design intent
- Work with Merchandising to align assortments with business strategies, customer needs, and market opportunities
- Assist in resolving development challenges while maintaining design integrity, quality standards, and target costs
- Conduct regular market shopping and competitive analysis to identify opportunities in denim washes, fashion silhouettes, and product innovation
- Organize and maintain seasonal sample collections, fabric libraries, wash references, and development materials
- Assist with sample tracking, fitting preparation, and design room organization
- Maintain accurate records of development changes, approvals, and seasonal product information
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Application Requirements

- 3–5 years of apparel design experience, with a strong focus on denim and fashion bottoms
- Strong understanding of denim construction, washes, fits, fabrications, embellishments, garment finishing techniques, and novelty treatments
- Experience designing across multiple denim categories including bottoms, dresses, skirts, shirts, and fashion tops
- Experience creating sketches, CADs, technical flats, and tech packs
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Strong trend forecasting, market research, and competitive shopping skills
- Excellent organizational and project management abilities
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working with private label accounts is a plus
- Experience in the Junior market is preferred
Hybrid Work Schedule
4 days a week in the office, Fridays at home
New York Pay Rate $60,000 - $85,000
