The Arizona Food Bank Network (AzFBN) is looking for a committed communicator with an eye for accessibility, an ear for storytelling, and values that align with our vision of a hunger-free Arizona. The ideal candidate has compassion for their neighbors and acts with urgency to reach them with solutions, stories, and information regarding food insecurity.
Position Description
In this position, you will be responsible for external communications and stewardship of the AzFBN brand as well as marketing tactics (mostly online) to support AzFBN and our critical work to end hunger. This involves marketing topics such as (but not limited to) advocacy, fundraising, and program outreach, as well as internal communications with the AzFBN team. With the Senior Manager of Communications, you will execute a marketing strategy and calendar for the organization. All print and electronic collateral will flow through this position to ensure brand integrity and unified voice. You’ll be hands-on for management of social media, online ad campaigns, and the organization’s website.
Because our staff is small, you will have ownership of many dynamic tasks and other skills or interests will be put to good use!
Primary Responsibilities:
- In coordination with the Senior Manager of Communications and the Development Team, implement and manage an organization-wide communications strategy and calendar. This includes copywriting and content creation.
- Ownership for ongoing maintenance and accuracy of the AzFBN website and deep participation in the redesign process.
- Collecting footage and insights at AzFBN events and onsite visits with providers.
- Assisting with promotion and outreach for AzFBN programs tailored for farmers, low-income families, seniors, and other vulnerable populations.
- Managing and reporting on AzFBN’s social media presence, email marketing, and ads.
- Managing branded merchandise and printed collateral.
- Other duties that support the AzFBN vision of a hunger-free Arizona.
Key Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to tailor messages to different audiences with awareness of accessibility in communications.
- Familiarity with Meta, email marketing platforms, Wordpress, and Google Ads.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including interviewing with a lens toward client dignity.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
- Strong initiative and ability to work both independently and within a team.
Minimum Qualifications for Education, Training and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) and 3-5 years experience in marketing, writing for different audiences, running social media for a group or organization, and managing contractors and vendors. Familiarity with hunger and poverty issues, especially in Arizona, or willingness to learn. Bilingual (Spanish) a plus. Valid Arizona Driver’s License and the willingness to travel routinely in Maricopa County and occasionally in other parts of the state. Must have reliable transportation (company car available on a reservation basis).
