LHC is seeking a Resident Assistant/Caregiver responsible for providing compassionate, resident-centered support and assistance with daily living activities for residents within the Assisted Living and Memory Care community. This role promotes resident dignity, independence, comfort, safety, and overall well-being while delivering personalized care in a respectful and supportive environment.
The Resident Assistant / Caregiver assists residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, mobility support, dining assistance, and emotional support, while encouraging engagement and maintaining each resident’s highest level of independence. This position plays a vital role in enhancing quality of life for older adults, including individuals living with dementia and memory-related conditions.

- Basic documentation and computer skills for resident records and communication systems preferred.

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Personal Care Aide (PCA), Home Health Aide (HHA), or equivalent caregiver certification preferred, if required by state regulations.
- Minimum of one (1) year of caregiving, healthcare, senior living, assisted living, memory care, home care, or related experience preferred.
- Experience working with older adults, including individuals living with dementia or memory-related conditions, strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs), resident care practices, infection prevention, and safety procedures preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or ability to obtain within required timeframe.
- Medication assistance training or certification preferred if permitted and required by state regulations and community policy.
- Ability to complete required training related to dementia care, resident rights, emergency procedures, abuse prevention, infection prevention, and safety protocols.
- Basic computer and documentation skills are preferred for electronic records and communication systems.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow care plans, safety procedures, and written or verbal instructions required.
- Ability to pass required background checks, drug screening, health screenings, and other pre-employment requirements in accordance with organizational and state regulations.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and move throughout the community for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and transfer up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to safely assist residents with transfers, mobility, ambulation, repositioning, and activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and dining).
- Ability to safely operate resident care equipment, including wheelchairs, walkers, lifts, and gait belts.
- Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies, including resident falls, medical emergencies, and evacuations.
- Sufficient visual, hearing, communication, and manual dexterity skills to provide care, monitor resident safety, and complete documentation.
- Ability to work in healthcare environments with exposure to cleaning products, bodily fluids, and other related conditions while following infection control procedures.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, attentiveness, and resident-focused care throughout scheduled shifts.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, evenings, nights, and overtime as needed.
