During our 1-year alternative program, Youthbuild facilitates a warm, loving culture that uses a variety of structures to build community, such as a restorative-justice approach to discipline, weekly community meetings, and school-wide service projects. The Opportunity:
The Partnership Coordinator plays a key role in cultivating and sustaining strategic relationships that enhance student programming, internships, and placement opportunities. As the initial point of contact for new partnerships, the Coordinator ensures alignment with organizational goals while collaborating with staff to convert ideas and leads into formalized agreements for leadership approval. This role oversees the management of partnership systems, tracks engagement, and leads regular meetings to assess and expand partnerships. Additionally, the Coordinator is responsible for establishing and onboarding new internship sites, maintaining strong communication with external partners, and collecting feedback from stakeholders to drive continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do:
You will…
Collaborate with the Director of Postsecondary Success to create and execute on standard operating procedures for internships at YB, ultimately ensuring that all students complete a quality internship experience
- Secure high quality internship placement slots for 100% of year 1 students by Dec including establishing MOUs with all internship partners
- Act as the primary contact for establishing and onboarding new internship partnership sites, including logistics, communication, and documentation.
- Support with internship preparation activities embedded in various areas (senior seminar, postsec class, workforce classes, community meetings, additional workshops etc.) to ensure students are well prepared and set up for success
- Complete student-internship matching process
- Manage internship attendance tracking and support system including collaborating with other departments (Student Advisors, Workforce Instructors etc.) doing direct 1:1 support and accountability to make sure all students get where they are supposed to go)
- Carry out employer and student feedback systems for internships to proactively identify and communicate student areas of strength/growth, placement site areas of strength/growth, and collaborate on problem-solving to address small issues before they turn into larger ones
- Utilize employer partnership tracking system
Collaborate with the Director of Postsecondary Success to create and execute on standard operating procedures for employer partnerships for alumni employment placement
- Manage employer partnership tracking system
- Bring in at least 5 new alumni placement employer partnerships per year
- Strengthen existing employment partnerships including retaining partnerships year to year, expanding the number of internship slots available, expanding internship partnership scope to include hiring alumni, and facilitating student transitions directly from internship to employment
- Gather and document employer feedback before, during, and after student placement to maintain employer partnerships and increase retention and collaborate with school team to support students in building skills to address gaps
- Formalize commitments from local employers to reserve a set number of full-time job slots for graduates with MOUs
- Collaborate with Director of PS, PS coordinator, SDWF to align on priorities for industries and job types to pursue
- Lead monthly or quarterly partnership meetings to review and update the partnership matrix, and identify opportunities to expand existing partnerships (e.g., from funding to placement partnerships).
Other:
- Provide backup coverage and additional support for all responsibilities of other Postsecondary Coordinator as needed based on seasonal workload rhythms as assigned by Director of Postsecondary Success
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to support seamless integration of partnerships into programs and ensure quality experiences for all stakeholders.
- Provide mentorship to a cohort of 4–5 students, offering consistent academic and personal support to help them stay on track toward meeting graduation requirements.
- Support the development of a centralized partnership knowledge base, including contacts, engagement history, and quality ratings for future planning.
- Participate in a highly collaborative, fluid school culture that requires strong interpersonal skills and flexibility.
- Stay connected and keep current with local and national trends in education, community organizations and youth development opportunites.

New YouthBuild Coordinator level staff can expect a starting salary of between $45,000 - $55,000 based on years of experience, education, and certifications, if applicable.
