POSITION:
PASTRY COOK The Pastry Cook is responsible for preparing and executing high-quality desserts, baked goods, and specialty items. This role supports daily kitchen operations by executing recipes with precision, maintaining consistency in presentation, and contributing to a thoughtful, seasonal menu. A strong focus on organization, cleanliness, and efficiency is essential, along with a passion for creating refined, balanced desserts that complement OMS’s brand.
This position is part of an exciting new restaurant concept opening within our resort in mid-August 2026. Official start dates are expected to be finalized in early August.
This position requires availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and execute a variety of baked goods, pastries, and desserts according to established receipts and presentation standards
- Assist in prep and production of items such as breads, pastries, cookies, cakes, plated desserts, and specialty items
- Ensure consistency in flavor, texture, and presentation across all pastry items
- Properly measure, mix, proof, bake, and finish products using standard techniques and equipment
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary pastry station at all times
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations
- Label, date, and store ingredients and finished products in accordance with FIFO standards
- Monitor inventory levels for pasty ingredients and communicate needs to kitchen leadership
- Minimize waste through proper portioning and efficient use of ingredients
- Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing deliveries
- Maintain and properly use all pastry equipment; report any maintenance or safety concerns
- Collaborate with kitchen leadership on seasonal items, specials, and menu development as needed
- Support special event production
- Maintain awareness of guest dietary needs and support safe preparation practices
- Contribute to a positive, team-oriented kitchen environment
- Support additional duties as assigned based on operational needs
Due to changing operational demands, it may be necessary to undertake various functions that are not specifically related to this position. This individual may be required to carry out additional tasks and duties as needed or as directed. Additionally, employee responsibilities and job descriptions are subject to review and modification.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, weekdays, and holidays as required
- 1-3 years of pastry, baking, or relevant kitchen experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of baking techniques, measurements, and pastry equipment
- Strong attention to detail and consistency in execution
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and maintain quality standards
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Reliability, punctuality, and strong work ethic required
- Food Handler’s Certification required (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs
- CPR and first aid certification a plus and /or the willingness to be trained.
- The position requires manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills, the ability to follow written and verbal instructions and procedures, and the capacity to communicate effectively and professionally.
