Primary purpose:
Manages company-wide information technology operations, infrastructure, and support services. Leads IT operations and provides strategic direction and operational oversight for IT activities across the organization. Ensures the reliability, security, and effectiveness of internal IT systems. Improves processes, supports end users, coordinates technology initiatives, and communicates IT priorities and risks to leadership. Acts a key manager and technical liaison; bridges operational IT support, infrastructure management, and organizational collaboration to achieve company goals.
A successful candidate will do the following:
- Lead and manage IT operations in a fast-paced remote environment while maintaining a strong customer-service mindset
- Manage infrastructure, hardware, software, and enterprise systems while supporting internal users
- Develop IT policies and operational processes, mentor IT staff, and improve organizational technology practices
- Communicate with leadership regarding IT initiatives, operational risks, and technology updates; represent IT during company-wide meetings and initiatives
- Proactively identify operational and technology risks, implement practical solutions, and ensure alignment with organizational priorities and best practices
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field with at least eight years of progressive work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated progression from technical IT roles into leadership or management responsibilities
- Experience managing or leading IT operations, help-desk support, infrastructure administration, or enterprise systems
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software systems, networking, and IT operational practices
- Experience developing, documenting, and implementing IT policies, procedures, and operational standards
- Experience managing IT projects, system upgrades, migrations, and operational changes
- Ability to evaluate technology risks and communicate mitigation strategies to leadership
- Experience maintaining processes for inventory management of hardware and software
- Strong communication skills, including experience presenting technical updates and operational information to leadership and staff
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and support IT staff while fostering a culture of customer service and accountability
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously in a fully remote work environment
- Experience using Microsoft 365 and SharePoint
- Hands-on experience supporting computer networks, network administration, and infrastructure
- Ability to work Eastern Time Zone business hours
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Level 5 clearance.
Preferred qualifications:
- Systems Administration or Systems Engineer certification
- Experience administering Jira Service Management or related ticketing systems
- Atlassian administration experience
- Experience facilitating Change Management Board (CMB) processes or operational governance meetings
- Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and principles of IT risk management
- Experience supporting distributed or fully remote organizations
