About the Role
Are you organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about supporting student success? The School of Nursing is seeking a Student Support Specialist – Clinical Operations to join our team. In this vital role, you will provide a variety of administrative, technical, and hands-on support to our current students. Your primary focus will be coordinating and scheduling student clinical assignments under the direction of the department manager and the Dean of Nursing, ensuring our future nurses are set up for success.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Scheduling & Tracking: Schedule student clinical assignments and ensure all clinical schedules and student data are accurately recorded in the College tracking system (CampusCafe).
- Student Support: Greet students and visitors, answer questions regarding clinical requirements outlined in the Student Handbook, and respond to phone calls, voicemails, and emails in a timely fashion.
- Administrative Excellence: Maintain precise student files and office records in accordance with compliance expectations. Prepare documents, forms, minutes, reports, and statistical data for department leadership.
- Office Coordination: Schedule appointments and meetings, manage correspondence, and perform general clerical duties (filing, shredding, photocopying).
- Collaboration: Establish and maintain cooperative, tactful working relationships across college departments, including Enrollment Services, Student Support, and Career Services.
Requirements
What We Are Looking For
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of full-time administrative support experience (4 years preferred).
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Tech Savviness: Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Windows OS, electronic mail, and campus database systems (CampusCafe).
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional data entry, proofreading, and organizational skills with the ability to manage filing systems and coordinate tasks amidst frequent interruptions.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey information clearly, tactfully, and professionally to students, staff, and the public.
- Discretion & Initiative: A self-directed individual who takes initiative, exercises independent judgment, and maintains strict confidentiality of sensitive student information.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands
- This position operates in a moderate noise environment.
- Regularly required to sit, use hands/fingers, reach, talk, and hear; occasionally required to stand and walk.
- Must be able to regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 25 pounds.
- Requires close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
