About the Position
The HR Associate Consultant provides day-to-day HR support and project execution for multiple Missionwell clients. This role serves as a key point of contact for assigned clients, delivering high-quality, compliant HR guidance while managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced consulting environment.
This position combines hands-on HR execution with client relationship management, including support for employee relations, recruiting, payroll coordination, compliance, and core HR processes. Complex or high-risk matters are escalated to a Senior HR Consultant or Senior HR Director as appropriate.
Success in this role requires strong judgment, organization, and communication skills, along with the ability to build trusted relationships with client leaders while delivering timely, accurate work.
Primary Responsibilities
Client Support & Account Ownership
- Serve as a primary HR contact for assigned clients, providing responsive, professional support
- Build strong client relationships and maintain regular communication with leaders, including executive teams
- Manage multiple client accounts and competing deadlines with strong organization and follow-through
- Recognize when to escalate complex, sensitive, or high-risk HR matters
HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle
- Support recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and offboarding activities
- Provide benefits administration and enrollment support
- Support leave administration and compliance tracking
- Maintain accurate HR records, job descriptions, and employee classifications
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Provide practical guidance on employee relations matters using company policy and applicable employment laws
- Support investigations, performance management, and corrective action documentation, with escalation as needed
- Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and internal policies
Project Execution & Process Improvement
- Execute assigned HR projects, such as handbook updates, audits, process improvements, and recruiting initiatives
- Manage project timelines and deliverables with strong attention to detail and quality
- Maintain project tracking, status updates, and accurate timekeeping in project management tools
Communication & Collaboration
- Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, employees, and internal team members
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and organizational updates
- Maintain strict confidentiality in all aspects of the role
Qualifications
- 3-6 years of progressive HR experience
- Experience managing multiple clients, projects, or business units simultaneously; HR consulting or client-facing experience preferred
- Strong time management and ability to prioritize competing deadlines
- Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to earn trust and deliver results
- Polished communication skills and comfort interacting with executive leaders
- Demonstrated integrity and sound judgment aligned with Missionwell’s values and client needs
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently and escalate when appropriate
- Working knowledge of employee relations best practices, HR compliance, HRIS/payroll systems (Paylocity or similar preferred), and recruiting and onboarding processes
- Experience supporting faith-based or nonprofit organizations is strongly preferred
- SHRM-CP, PHR, or a similar HR certification is preferred

All Missionwell Staff are required to:
- Maintain accurate project action items with status updates in Missionwell’s project management tools; maintain accurate timekeeping
- Keep informed of organizational announcements, activities, and changes via a regular reading of Missionwell’s communication tools and attendance at staff meetings
- Maintain a professional development plan for yourself and present this to your supervisor for regular, quarterly review and support
- Maintain a strict level of confidentiality in all aspects of the job
- Attend and participate in staff and team meetings as requested
- Fulfill other duties and responsibilities as requested or as assigned
Physical Requirements
This role includes the following essential physical requirements:
- Ability to read, write, communicate, and perform routine calculations
- Extended periods of sitting, standing, and typing
- Repetitive hand, arm, and finger movement
- Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs
Schedule
This part-time role is expected to average approximately 20 hours per week. Candidates should be available to work a consistent schedule, preferably 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Pacific Time, Monday through Friday. Slight adjustments may be considered based on the selected candidate’s time zone while still aligning with business needs.
