Position Summary
The Floriculture Department Manager is responsible for the leadership, operational management, quality control, scheduling oversight, financial accountability, and process standardization of Russell Landscape’s Annual Color and Floriculture Division across all markets.
This role oversees the complete seasonal color operation including:
- Production operations
- Scheduling coordination
- Vendor and plant procurement oversight
- Quality assurance
- Billing readiness auditing
- Workflow accountability
- Outer market support
- Operational process development
- Administrative oversight
- Standardization initiatives
- CREW workflow management
This position serves as the operational owner of the Floriculture Division and is responsible for ensuring consistent quality, operational excellence, profitability, and scalable processes across all markets.

Core Responsibilities
Department Leadership
- Lead all seasonal color operations for Russell Landscape
- Provide operational direction for all floriculture teams and field personnel
- Support and develop Floriculture Field Managers
- Establish department standards and accountability measures
- Maintain alignment between Atlanta and outer markets
- Support long-term department growth and scalability
Operational Oversight
- Oversee all scheduling coordination and production execution
- Ensure install schedules are achievable and operationally efficient
- Monitor production progress daily
- Coordinate responses to weather delays and schedule disruptions
- Ensure all properties are installation-ready prior to deployment
- Support branch teams with production planning and issue resolution
- Oversee outer market floriculture operations and consistency
Quality Control & Customer Experience
- Establish and enforce floriculture quality standards
- Conduct select property quality audits, and ensure field managers are conduction comprehensive quality audits.
- Oversee resolution of customer complaints and deficiencies
- Ensure consistency in:
- Planting quality
- Layout execution
- Pruning standards
- Plant health
- Seasonal appearance
- Support customer retention through high-quality execution
- Ensure punch list completion and follow-up inspections
Financial & Administrative Accountability
- Audit labor, materials, and billing readiness daily
- Ensure completed jobs are ready for invoicing
- Verify:
- Labor hours entered correctly
- Materials entered correctly
- Plant quantities reconciled
- Completion photos uploaded
- Approvals documented
- Identify and resolve missing costs or billing issues
- Monitor department profitability and job costing
- Track projected sales and completed sales
Proposal & Approval Workflow Oversight
- Ensure proposal and approval processes are followed correctly
- Audit proposal approvals for accuracy and completeness
- Verify approvals contain:
- Correct proposal versions
- Approved dollar amounts
- Proper documentation
- Ensure jobs are not scheduled without required approvals
- Support standardization of proposal templates and pricing structures
Vendor & Procurement Oversight
- Oversee plant ordering workflows
- Monitor vendor performance and plant quality
- Ensure ordering deadlines are met
- Manage substitution approvals and communication
- Coordinate plant availability across markets
- Reduce material shortages and ordering errors
- Support development of approved plant substitution standards
Systems & Process Development
- Assist in development and implementation of CREW workflows
- Support future integration between CREW and QuickBase systems
- Develop standardized operational procedures
- Reduce dependency on spreadsheets, emails, and manual tracking
- Improve department efficiency through process automation
- Build scalable systems for future growth
Reporting & KPI Management
Track and report department KPIs including:
- Sales performance
- Install completion rates
- Schedule adherence
- Labor productivity
- Gross margins
- Customer complaints
- Warranty replacements
- Billing readiness
- Missing labor/materials
- Production efficiency
Provide regular reporting to the Director of Enhancements.

Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in seasonal color, floriculture, landscaping, or related operations
- Strong operational and organizational management experience
- Experience managing crews, scheduling, and production workflows
- Strong understanding of seasonal color installation and maintenance
- Experience with budgeting, job costing, and operational reporting
- Ability to manage multiple markets and priorities simultaneously
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Experience with CRM or operational management software preferred
- Experience with QuickBase, Aspire, CREW, or similar systems preferred
