About the Job

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Director of Contracts and Legal Services (CLS) to lead the CLS department in supporting the day-to-day contracts, subcontracts, and compliance needs of our organization.  This person will also have operational oversight for the firm’s legal affairs. The Director serves as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and collaborates cross-functionally with business units, external counsel, and key stakeholders. 

This position may offer in-office, remote, or hybrid opportunities based on the candidate’s location and the needs of the organization.

Responsibilities

As the Director of Contracts and Legal Services, your job functions will include, but not be limited to:

  • Leading the drafting, review, negotiation, and execution of contracts and ensuring compliance with legal standards and organizational policies
  • Developing and implementing contract management processes to ensure consistency, efficiency, and risk mitigation
  • Identifying, assessing, and managing risks associated with contracts and organizational operations
  • Applying risk management strategies and frameworks to minimize potential risks and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Overseeing the firm’s legal affairs and building on outside law firm relationships
  • Partnering with the M&A team to support due diligence and integration of systems and staff
  • Leading our property, casualty, and professional liability insurance renewal process with support from other corporate directors and the CLS team
  • Leading, mentoring, and developing CLS staff
  • Identifying opportunities for process automation, system enhancements, and efficiency improvements 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:


Required 

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school 
  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of legal experience, preferably including both law firm and in-house counsel experience
  • Experience managing contracts, compliance, corporate governance, and risk 

Preferred 

  • Experience in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction industry 
  • Experience supporting multi-state operations 
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience

Compensation is commensurate with experience and internal equity, within the listed range. An employee’s total compensation package includes annual salary, company-subsidized (employee and family) medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) participation with a company match of 1% to 4% of annual compensation, company-paid life and short- and long-term disability insurance, paid sick leave (10 days), paid vacation (10 or/to 20 days; determined by title at hire), paid holidays (9 days) per year, and the potential for an annual discretionary bonus based on company performance. Paid time off will be prorated to reflect part-time scheduled hours, if applicable.
