Summary: Directs and coordinates activities of production department(s) in processing materials or manufacturing products in industrial organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING. OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED:
- Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
- Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
- Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.
- Monitors and adjusts flow of incoming materials to maintain appropriate inventory levels required to support work in process.
- Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
- Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
- Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
- Project Management - Develops project plans; Coordinates projects; Communicates changes and progress; Completes projects on time and budget; Manages project team activities.
- Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
- Resolves worker grievances or submits unsettled grievances to appropriate parties for action.
- Approves time for subordinates on a daily basis.
- Submits data to Plant Manager for monthly reviews by the 8th business day of every month.
- Works scheduled departmental hours.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Directly supervises employees in the assigned department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Welding and fabrication experience required.
Computer Skills: Epicor; Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to cold and heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
