The Impact You'll Make

As our Hospice Liaison & Volunteer Assistance Coordinator, you will be the bridge between our hospice team, volunteers, patients, and their families. You’ll ensure that every volunteer is supported, every family feels heard, and every patient receives the comfort and companionship they deserve. Your work will directly shape the quality of care we provide, turning moments of uncertainty into moments of peace.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the secondary point of      contact for volunteers, ensuring they are trained, supported, and matched      with meaningful assignments.
  • Build and maintain relationships      with community organizations, faith groups, and local partners to recruit      and engage volunteers.
  • Coordinate volunteer schedules to      meet patient and family needs, ensuring timely and compassionate support.
  • Provide orientation and ongoing      education for volunteers on hospice philosophy, patient care, and      emotional support techniques.
  • Collaborate with the clinical      team to identify opportunities where volunteers can enhance patient      comfort and family well-being.
  • Assist with bereavement support      programs, memorial services, and community outreach events.
  • Maintain accurate volunteer      records, compliance documentation, and activity reports.

What You'll Bring

  • A deep sense of empathy,      patience, and respect for individuals facing end-of-life care.
  • Experience in volunteer      coordination, community outreach, or patient support roles (hospice or      healthcare experience preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal and      communication skills, with the ability to connect with people from diverse      backgrounds.
  • Organizational skills to manage      multiple schedules, priorities, and sensitive situations.
  • Comfort with basic technology for      scheduling, record-keeping, and communication.
  • The ability to maintain      confidentiality and uphold the highest ethical standards.

Requirements

 

  • Education: HS. Diploma, public administration, healthcare, or related field; associate degree + experience considered
  • Experience: 1–3+ years in healthcare, community engagement, or volunteer management; customer service experience valued.
  • Certifications: Not always required, but relevant training (e.g., CPR, volunteer management) can be beneficial.
  • Soft skills: Empathy, active listening, problem-solving, and cultural sensitivity.
