Position Summary:
The Senior Feed Ingredient Marketer is responsible for originating, developing, and managing profitable feed ingredient business across assigned domestic and export markets. This role is accountable for driving margin growth, developing strategic supplier and customer relationships, managing market risk, and identifying new business opportunities across North American and international channels. This position reports to the Director of Trade.
The successful candidate will bring a strong commercial mindset, deep industry relationships, and demonstrated experience in feed ingredient merchandising, trading, logistics, and risk management. This individual will play a key role in expanding the company’s market presence while contributing to overall commercial strategy and profitability.
What You'll Do:
· Develop and execute regional and product-specific commercial strategies to drive sustainable margin growth across domestic and export markets
· Originate and manage ingredient trading opportunities throughout North America and international export channels
· Build and maintain strategic relationships with feedlots, integrators, dairy operations, manufacturers, ethanol plants, processors, exporters, and ingredient suppliers
· Identify and develop new ingredient market opportunities and value-added supply channels
· Negotiate purchase and sales contracts while managing pricing exposure and margin risk
· Monitor ingredient markets, freight markets, commodity trends, and competitive dynamics to identify trading opportunities
· Manage risk exposure within established position limits and company policies
· Collaborate with logistics, operations, finance, and regulatory teams to ensure efficient execution of business
· Develop annual business plans, margin targets, and working capital strategies for assigned markets
· Mentor and support junior marketers and contribute to overall commercial team development
· Represent the company professionally within the industry and strengthen market presence across assigned territories
What You'll Bring:
- Minimum 7-10 years of progressive experience in feed ingredient merchandising, commodity trading, feed sales, or agricultural marketing
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Business, Economics, or related discipline preferred
- Strong understanding of domestic and export feed ingredient markets including coproducts, proteins, energy feeds, and commodity risk factors
- Demonstrated success building profitable commercial relationships and growing market share
- Experience with freight, logistics, contract management, and supply chain execution
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and risk management skills
- Ability to independently manage a commercial territory and develop strategic growth initiatives
- Existing industry relationships within feed manufacturing, livestock production ethanol, processing, export, or ingredient supply sectors considered a strong asset
- Willingness to travel as required throughout assigned regions and export markets
- Strong communication and presentation skills
