Description

Southwest Christian School is seeking an Instructional Coach for the 2026-2027 academic year. The schedule for the role is 4 days per week.



Position Summary

The PK-6 Instructional Coach partners with elementary teachers to strengthen classroom instruction through coaching cycles, classroom support, collaborative planning, modeling, and feedback. The Coach serves as a non-evaluative instructional partner, working with administrators to build positive relationships with faculty and help improve teaching. All SCS employees are expected to demonstrate patience, humility, integrity, and kindness while performing the day-to-day duties of their roles and to prayerfully work with the administration, faculty, students, and families to develop and maintain a school that is distinctively Christian, academically excellent, and globally minded.


Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Cultivates positive relationships with faculty, staff, and administration
  • Observes teachers in the classroom to provide feedback and coaching to improve classroom practices
  • Assists teachers in goal setting, curates professional development opportunities in support of goals, and monitors achievement of goals and improvements
  • Supports teachers in designing engaging, student-centered learning experiences
  • Assists teachers in analyzing student work, assessment data, and classroom evidence to identify areas for growth in student achievement
  • Designs and facilitates professional development sessions, workshops, and small-group learning opportunities for faculty
  • Serve as a resource for current educational research and best practices
  • Supports teachers in the use of technology and other educational tools
  • Assist teachers in aligning their teaching with appropriate standards, curriculum, and assessments
  • Maintains clear, open, professional communication with team members and other school employees
  • Exhibits a willingness to participate in the school community by supporting, sponsoring, and/or leading extracurricular activities
Requirements

Educational & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university; Master’s degree preferred
  • Current ACSI and/or State Teaching Certificate
  • Five or more years of classroom teaching experience is preferred
  • Capturing Kids Hearts or similar Social-Emotional Learning professional development training is a plus
  • Formal instructional coaching training and experience are preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of elementary instructional best practices, including literacy, numeracy, differentiation, student engagement, assessment, and classroom management strategies appropriate for PK–6 learners
  • Experience with data-driven instruction
  • Experience using technology for instruction, productivity, and innovation (Google Suite/Classroom)
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of educators
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development

  • Eagerly participates in professional development activities and the evaluation process with a desire to grow professionally, spiritually, and personally throughout the career in education
  • Maintains a professional personal appearance that is a Christian role model of cleanliness, modesty, good taste, and is in accordance with school policy


Work Environment

The work environment at Southwest Christian School is consistent with a typical school setting. The employee normally works indoors but may be required to be outdoors in unpredictable temperatures to attend programs or move between buildings. The noise level in the environment is usually low to moderate but may become loud occasionally. The employee is frequently required to interact with others within the school community, including parents and other caregivers.
