CTI is seeking a highly motivated Gas Detection Solutions Consultant to join our Solution Sales team. This customer-facing role serves as the primary commercial contact for customers seeking gas detection solutions, compliance improvements, and system upgrades.
Working closely with our Field Service Technicians, who identify opportunities during service visits, calibrations, and site assessments, the Solutions Consultant transforms customer challenges into tailored safety and compliance solutions. This role combines technical expertise, consultative selling, and relationship management to help industrial customers protect their people, facilities, and operations.
The ideal candidate can confidently engage with safety managers, EHS professionals, and facility leaders, understand their operational and regulatory challenges, and develop solutions that address compliance gaps, aging equipment, and gas detection system deficiencies.
Discovery & Compliance Assessments
- Follow up on qualified opportunities identified by Field Service Technicians during on-site service activities.
- Conduct consultative discovery conversations to evaluate customers' gas detection systems, operating environments, maintenance practices, and compliance requirements.
- Identify potential gaps related to OSHA, IIAR, CTI recommendations, and other applicable regulations and standards.
- Perform or coordinate site assessments to document system deficiencies and understand customer needs.
- Translate technical and regulatory findings into clear business and safety risks for customers.
Solution Development & Sales
- Design customized gas detection solutions using CTI's portfolio of fixed sensors, controllers, portable detectors, accessories, calibration services, and related offerings.
- Develop and present proposals that clearly connect recommended solutions to customer safety, compliance, and operational objectives.
- Collaborate with service and internal teams to develop pricing, quotations, and implementation plans.
- Manage opportunities through the entire sales cycle—from discovery and proposal development through negotiation and close.
- Maintain momentum throughout the buying process by coordinating stakeholders and addressing customer concerns.
Retrofit & Upgrade Opportunities
- Lead sales efforts for customers operating legacy, obsolete, or end-of-life gas detection systems.
- Develop business cases for equipment replacement based on safety, compliance, reliability, downtime reduction, and liability considerations.
- Partner with Field Service teams to coordinate retrofit projects and minimize disruption to customer operations.
Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with safety managers, EHS leaders, facility managers, and operations personnel.
- Serve as the primary customer contact throughout the sales process and ensure a smooth transition to service teams for installation and commissioning.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, including activities, opportunities, follow-ups, and pipeline updates.
- Provide market intelligence, customer feedback, and competitive insights to the Service Director and leadership team.
Required
- 3+ years of experience in gas detection field service, technical sales, solution sales, industrial safety, HVAC/refrigeration, instrumentation, or a related technical field.
- Working knowledge of OSHA and IIAR gas detection requirements.
- Strong consultative selling, discovery, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote, field-based environment.
- Ability to read facility layouts, system drawings, and related documentation.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout an assigned territory.
Preferred
- Experience working with ammonia refrigeration systems.
- Experience supporting food processing, cold storage, or industrial manufacturing facilities.
- Familiarity with fixed and portable gas detection systems from any manufacturer.
- Experience using CRM platforms such as Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar systems.
