Fiber Design Analyst II
Fully Remote Central Time Zone or Southeastern United States
Description

The Fiber Design Analyst serves as a key bridge between sales, engineering, construction, and property ownership groups by converting technical fiber network information into clear, actionable design materials. This role is essential to accelerating Right of Access approvals by helping property owners and decision makers visually understand how fiber will be brought to and throughout their communities. This position is responsible for producing High-Level Designs, refining engineering vendor drawings, and creating simplified visual exhibits that communicate fiber pathways, network placement, and building connectivity in a clear and professional manner. In addition, the Fiber Design Analyst will leverage QGIS, Vetro, and other mapping platforms to identify on-net and near-net opportunities, support market prioritization, and help the sales organization focus on the highest-value properties.

The ideal candidate combines technical mapping expertise with strong business judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to make complex fiber designs understandable for non-technical audiences.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop property-specific High-Level Designs to support Right of Access discussions, owner approvals, and board-level presentations.
  • Convert technical engineering vendor drawings into simplified, owner-facing design exhibits that clearly show proposed fiber pathways, equipment placement, and building entry points.
  • Create visual materials that help non-technical stakeholders understand the scope, impact, and benefits of the proposed fiber design.
  • Use QGIS and Vetro to map target properties, evaluate network proximity, and distinguish between on-net and near-net opportunities.
  • Support sales funnel prioritization by identifying properties with the strongest alignment to existing network, planned construction routes, and near-term serviceability.
  • Partner with sales and business development teams to prepare design packages for ROA outreach, property owner meetings, and approval discussions.
  • Work closely with engineering and construction teams to validate design assumptions, clarify pathway options, and resolve design-related questions.
  • Review engineering vendor designs for accuracy, clarity, and alignment with property-specific requirements before they are shared internally or externally.
  • Provide mapping and design support for targeted campaigns, market reviews, and strategic sales initiatives.
  • Ensure all design deliverables are visually clear, technically sound, and aligned with company standards for property owner communication.

Requirements

3-5 years of experience in:
Fiber Network Design & MDU Experience:Experience supporting the design and engineering of fiber optic networks for in-building applications, including multi-dwelling units (MDUs) and private easement communities.
GIS & Geospatial Analysis Proficiency:Proficient in GIS tools (QGIS, Vetro, Arrow) for spatial analysis, route optimization, and mapping fiber network expansion.
Fiber Data Management & Documentation:Skilled in maintaining and updating OSP records, distribution areas, and bills of materials (BOMs) with strong attention to data accuracy and version control.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:Ability to effectively collaborate with planning, engineering, and field teams to align fiber designs with FTTH deployment strategies and market needs.

Design Validation & Feasibility Support:Experience reviewing and validating network designs, supporting design reviews, redlines, and feasibility assessments for new property or expansion opportunities.
