Position Summary: Futuro Health is seeking a collaborative and detail-oriented Instructional Designer to support the development of high-quality, engaging, and learner-centered educational experiences that advance workforce development in healthcare and related fields. Reporting to the Director of Instruction and Design, the Instructional Designer will collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), curriculum developers, instructors, and internal stakeholders to design, develop, and maintain online, hybrid, and instructor-led learning experiences. This role combines instructional design expertise, course development skills, and educational technology proficiency to transform content into effective, accessible, and engaging learning experiences for diverse adult learners. The ideal candidate is both a strong instructional designer and a hands-on course developer who enjoys building interactive learning experiences, applying learning science principles, and leveraging technology to support learner success.
Essential Job Functions:
- Design & Development: Collaborate with curriculum writers, SMEs, and the instructional design team to design, develop, and implement engaging instructional materials, courses, and programs.
- Instructional Design Models: Apply established instructional design frameworks (e.g., ADDIE, backward design) to support alignment between learning objectives, activities, and assessments.
- Content Development: Develop learning activities, assessments, modules, and multimedia content that support learner engagement and knowledge application. Apply basic visual design principles (e.g., layout, consistency, readability) to enhance clarity and usability.
- Accessibility & Inclusion: Ensure instructional materials meet accessibility standards (e.g., ADA, Section 508, Universal Design for Learning) and reflect inclusive practices.
- Evaluation & Improvement: Assist in evaluating instructional materials for effectiveness and recommend improvements based on feedback and data.
- Instructor & Staff Support: Provide training, resources, and guidance to instructors and staff on instructional technologies and best practices in teaching and learning.
- Technology Integration: Leverage learning management system (LMS) platforms (e.g., Canvas) and authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Rise/Storyline, etc.) to create scalable, interactive learning solutions, including custom learning objects and digital assets.
- Standards & Quality: Follow established quality standards, design guidelines, and workflows for instructional development projects.
- Professional Growth: Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in instructional design, adult learning, and digital education.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in instructional design and development.
- Strong proficiency in instructional design models, adult learning theory, and assessment methods.
- Experience with learning management systems and digital authoring/multimedia tools.
- Strong written and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in instructional design and development.
- Strong proficiency in instructional design models, adult learning theory, and assessment methods.
- Experience with learning management systems and digital authoring/multimedia tools.
- Strong written and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Education: Master’s degree in instructional design or similar preferred. Minimum 3-5 years of related experience.
Supervisory Responsibility: This role does not have supervisory responsibility over other staff.
Work Environment/Travel: This is a remote role. Travel will also be required to attend meetings and conferences twice per year to attend Futuro Health’s Spring and Fall In Person All Hands events. Participation in these events is an essential function of the role, as these gatherings support strategic alignment, cross department collaboration, and organizational effectiveness, which cannot be fully achieved in a virtual format. As a condition of employment, employees must be able to fulfill this twice yearly travel requirement. Reasonable accommodations will be provided as required by applicable law.
Physical Demands: Able to sit, stand, and type for long periods of time. Ability to work irregular hours including after hours and weekends although this will be infrequent. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
