Denver Language School (DLS) is a public, tuition-free language immersion charter school located in East Denver. DLS provides an innovative academic program to reach the highest levels of student achievement through comprehensive language immersion education in Spanish and Mandarin Chinese. DLS offers traditional learning activities in the target language, making the language both the medium and the object of instruction.

Overview of position: 

The Operations Assistant supports the academic growth of students by supporting the administrative team, being the “face” of the school, and completing general daily operations tasks.

The Operations Assistant works closely with campus principals, instructional leaders, teachers, parents/families, and students.

The anticipated start date for this position is 07/21/2026. 

The selected candidate will report to the Whiteman Director of Operations.

Pay and Benefits:

  • Employees at DLS are compensated in accordance with other Denver-area charter schools. The annual salary of $44,112- $45,557.
  • 8 days of PTO with an option to roll days to the following school year. PTO will be prorated to reflect a mid-year start.

Essential Functions and Objectives 

  • Covers the front desk and health room during school and after-school program hours.
  • Performing basic health office tasks such as:
    • Addressing minor injuries and administering bandages 
    • administering medications
    • following student’s medical plans
    • adhering to procedures
  • Assisting with basic student support such as: 
    • Monitoring students who are waiting to be picked up
    • Supervising classes during lunch or recesses
  • Greets parents, students, and visitors in a professional, courteous manner. 
  • Answers telephones and responds to emails in a professional, courteous manner. 
  • Sorts mail for distribution and prepares mail for delivery.
  • Ensures parents and other visitors sign in appropriately, ensuring school safety
  • Assists with general school operations such as:
    • Submitting and monitoring daily attendance 
    • Calling upon substitute teachers 
  • Follows procedures for daily arrival and dismissal duties. 
  • May perform duties associated with being the Principal's assistant including scheduling meetings and calendar requests.

  • Ability to learn new tasks and procedures quickly with minimal supervision, without the need for explicit directions.  
  • Effective and independent day-to-day time management, task prioritization, and adaptability 
  • Comfortable working with children grades K-4
  • Ability to work effectively and respectfully with a team
  • Ability to organize both physical space as well as a digital workspace

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Bilingual English/Spanish 
  • Proficiency with computers, typing, and word processing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a high volume office setting 
  • Previous work with children grades K-4 
  • Knowledge of school safety protocols and RAPTOR check in 
  • Familiarity with Infinite Campus
