LOCATION: Double Tree Bloomington Minneapolis South - Franchise



JOB SUMMARY

  • Respond to guest room calls as required.
  • Maintain all buildings and equipment throughout the hotel.
  • Perform general repairs and services in all maintenance related disciplines, including but not limited to; carpentry, mechanics, plumbing, minor electrical, finish work, etc.
  • Prioritize work orders through urgent requests and established hotel area down times in order to minimize inconveniencing guests. 
  • Complete any and all assigned preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Must be able to proactively identify and alert appropriate management of boiler concerns before incidents occur, ranging from minor problems to catastrophic failures
  • Must be able to immediately report and document any violations, accidents, or failures involving boilers and pressure vessels.
  • Understand how to read, properly identify and provide information on equipment, including manufacturer, year built, and the construction code.
  • Assist other departmental craft workers, as assigned.
  • Perform all duties required as Fire Alarm Response Team.
  • Participate in OSHA/Safety programs within the hotel
  • Assist as needed with the Hotel’s Emergency Evacuation Team
  • Adhere to hotel safety standards
  • Highly motivated self-starter.
  • Must promote a cordial and caring attitude toward all other department heads.
  • Perform other duties and handle projects as assigned by Manager or Senior Maintenance Engineer.
  • Take charge of a watch and perform the duties required on the job during the watch. 
  • Service and repair equipment falling under the jurisdiction of the Operating Engineer.

  • Effectively interact with department managers and be able to work well with all members of the Engineering Department and all other members of the Hotel Staff.
  • Experienced in all phases of mechanical/electrical systems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to exert a fast-paced ability to reach different areas and floors of the hotel on a timely basis, including the front desk, administrative offices, restaurant, banquet rooms, culinary prep spaces, storage areas, event spaces, and guest rooms.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill relevant cleaning, repair, and maintenance tasks. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Talking and hearing ability that occurs continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
  • Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate equipment such as computers, printers, 10-key adding machine, keyboard, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, FAX machines, photocopiers, dolly and other office equipment as needed. 
  • Most be able to complete tasks that are performed indoors and outdoors. 
  • Must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10F) and kitchens (+110F), possibly for one hour or more.
  • The worker may be subject to atmospheric conditions, one or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation.
  • The worker may be subject to hazards: includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.

LICENSE & CERTIFICATION

  • Operating Engineer with a First Class C boilers license or above. 
  • CFC Certification



Requirements
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work
  • Must report to work on time
  • Must be present and able to work all shifts on-site
  • Must be able to work the necessary hours and schedule to meet the operational needs of the business
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be currently eligible to work in the United States of America and able to present required work authorization documents as required to complete the Form I-9 on the first day of employment.



SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.

AVAILABILITY

Double Tree Bloomington Minneapolis South operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day. At times it may be necessary to move you from your accustomed work day, to include Holidays, or time of work if business or task assignments demand. In addition, it should be understood that business needs determine the amount of hours per week that you will work and that hours may fluctuate each week based on the needs of a 24/7 operation, including days, nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
