Loader Operator
Description

  

The Equipment Operator position is responsible for handling and loading MSW, C and D waste, and Single Sort Recyclables to ensure materials are transported and disposed of in an appropriate manner.

  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Efficiently transfer solid waste while operating excavators, loaders and skid steers.

· Perform pre- and post-operation inspections on equipment and vehicles

· Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and vehicles

· Maintain various records and/or logs

· Wash, lubricate and fuel equipment and vehicles

· Identify and sort materials from incoming loads

· Carry out site grounds maintenance including; picking litter, street sweeping, snow removal, etc.

· Perform building and other stationary equipment maintenance

· Perform other related duties as assigned

· Direct customers where to dump waste material on site

· Ensure that transfer trailers are loaded efficiently but not exceeding DOT weight limits

· Communicate with scale operator and other site personnel 

Requirements

  

Education and/or experience:

1. High school diploma or GED

2. Previous experience with heavy or light equipment

WORK CONDITIONS
Outdoor environment; exposure to extreme weather conditions; work with and around heavy machinery; exposure to dust and fumes from motorized equipment; exposure to noise, odors and gases; exposure to heavy traffic conditions, possible exposure to toxic chemicals.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls. Employee must also be able to reach with hands, arms and legs to operate equipment. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
