The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for a Groundskeeper at our Golf Course.
Responsibilities:
• Performs various repairs to facilities to ensure proper operation and security, which involves mending fences, performing carpentry and masonry work, installing and repairing fixtures, plumbing, etc.
• Mows areas on the golf course to include fairways, tee boxes, greens, roughs, etc.
• Rakes and maintains bunkers and other golf course hazards and blows leaves off primary surfaces.
• Fills golf ball cleaners and empties trash cans on golf course as well as cleans debris from primary areas.
• Receives and prepares necessary work charts, maintenance records, time cards, and other records.
• Utilizes various tools and equipment/machinery in the performance of the job such as tractors, trucks, power tools, carpenter tools, hand tools, paint sprayers, chain saws, floor equipment, mechanic tools, etc.
• Conducts safety checks on truck and tool contents; performs other related duties as required. Performs grounds maintenance such as mowing and trimming lawns, trimming shrubbery and trees, performing weed control, picking up litter and other refuse, raking leaves, etc.
• Performs landscaping activities; poison control.
• Maintains the cleanliness and sanitary conditions of the restrooms in order to promote personal hygiene and provide operational public facilities.
• Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the Chief Mechanic, coworkers, other City employees, and the general public.
• Refers to policy and procedure manuals, codes/laws/regulations, publications and reference texts, etc.
• Conducts minor and preventative maintenance on equipment and vehicles; maintains cleanliness of same.
• Outdoors working environment subject to pre-dawn hours and adverse conditions such as heat, cold, rain, and awkward and confined spaces.
• Completes manual labor for long periods of time, walking on uneven surfaces, bending, crouching, or kneeling, pushing/pulling of levers on equipment and machinery, reaching in all directions and prolonged periods of time. Work in and around potentially hazardous substances, including pesticides, herbicides, and motor fuel.
• Operates machinery to complete various groundskeeping tasks and has ability to drive an automobile.
• Performs other related duties as required.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
· Performs general administrative tasks as required, including preparing reports and correspondence, entering and retrieving computer data, filing records, and answering phones.
· Participates in required training and continuing education to obtain and maintain certifications and stay current on changes in codes and ordinances.
· Assists other officers and staff when workload, emergencies, or special assignments require.
· Stays current on departmental policies, procedures, and processes.
· Completes work accurately, safely, and efficiently; maintains assigned equipment in good working condition.
· Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work area.
· Identifies and reports suggested improvements or areas of concern to the Supervisor.
· Ensures professionalism and excellent customer service in all interactions while representing the City of Greer.
· Demonstrates strong ethical conduct, integrity, and accountability with coworkers, customers, and the community.
· Supports a culture of results, communication, and professional collaboration within the department and across the organization.
· Represents the department at community events or meetings when requested by the Supervisor.
· Adheres to the Employee Handbook and all applicable policies and procedures.
· Maintains regular, reliable attendance.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Hours: Hours will vary; 28 hours weekly
Salary: Minimum $19.69 hourly; dependent on experience
