Who we are looking for...


We are seeking an Area Leader for our Transportation Group to lead the design of complex roadway infrastructure projects for FDOT and local agency clients. This senior-level role is ideal for a technically strong and client-focused professional with experience managing transportation design projects from concept through design, permitting, bidding, and construction support.


This role serves as the operational and market leader for the Central Florida Transportation practice, responsible for driving growth, strengthening client relationships, expanding market presence, and ensuring high-quality project delivery. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of project management leadership, technical design expertise, client relationship management, and business development capability. This person will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, mentor technical staff, and help develop our transportation practice through excellent project execution and strategic market engagement. 

  • Responsible for the operation of the group including business development, client engagement, backlog growth, and revenue generation.
  • Oversee the work of design engineers and technicians in the development of various highway and traffic engineering projects, including new urban and rural roadways, roadway widenings, interchanges, safety improvements, and MOT. Provide senior technical oversight and quality control for calculations, reports, plans, and specifications.
  • Lead projects through all phases, including planning, feasibility evaluation, preliminary engineering, final design, permitting, bidding, and construction phase services. Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and staffing plans, and monitor progress to ensure successful delivery.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, subconsultants, regulatory agencies, and internal project teams. Develop and maintain strong relationships with public-sector clients.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams that may include survey, environmental, geotechnical, and GIS support staff.
  • Identify opportunities for follow-on work, assist with proposals and interviews, and lead business development and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Recruit project engineers, designers, and support staff to build out the Orlando team. Mentor staff to support technical development and career progression.
Requirements

  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.).
  • Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in transportation engineering, with significant experience in project management of roadway design projects.
  • Significant experience leading pursuit efforts, developing proposals, and participating in interviews.
  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets, schedules, teams, and client communications on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of FDOT design standards, permitting requirements, and public-sector project delivery.
  • Prior experience mentoring junior staff and leading internal technical teams.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships.
