Primary Duties:
· Assist with delivery of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS): one session Tuesday morning (9:15-11:15am) and at least two sessions on Wednesday (9:15-11:15am, 3:30-5:30pm, 6-7:30pm)
· Prepare CGS atria and materials for each session
· Prepare online registration, class lists, attendance sheets and other program forms
· Assist with catechist and parent communications
· Assist in preparing children for First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation
Collaboration with DRE on Special Event planning and delivery:
· Family Orientation potluck (September)
· CGS Symposium for catechists and parents (October)
· “Shoebox” gift service project (November)
· Sacrament retreats (January and April)
· First Holy Communion and Confirmation Masses and receptions (February, May)
· May Crowning Mass
· Senior Brunch (May)
· Catechist meetings (semi-monthly)
· CGS formations (usually in June, every other year)
· Other events as they arise
Other duties:
· Collaborate with DRE and St. Augustin Catholic School religious education teacher for school retreats, vacation bible school, etc.
· Coordinate youth volunteers for general parish events
· Parish special event help (Feast Day, Mardi Gras, St. Patrick’s Day, etc.)
Applicant must be a practicing Catholic in good standing and have experience working with children. The ideal applicant will be certified in at least one level of the Catechesis of the Good Shephard approach and willing to advance in further certification.
