Hematology Oncology Associates of CNY (HOACNY), voted one of Central New York’s Best Places to Work, is looking for a full time Medical Oncologist/Hematologist to join our professional team. HOACNY provides cancer care services, Monday through Friday, day hours at three convenient locations in East Syracuse, Syracuse and Auburn. Specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of blood disorders and cancers. Core duties involve performing diagnostic tests, designing medication and therapy plans, and managing both malignant diseases (like leukemia) and benign blood conditions.


EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

1. Diagnosis and Evaluation

? Ordering Tests: Conducts comprehensive testing like blood tests, bone marrow testing, and imaging scans to pinpoint diseases.

? Biopsies: Analyze biopsies of bone marrow and lymph nodes to understand disease progression and cell structures.

? Staging and Explanation: Identify the exact type and stage of a disease and break down these complex diagnoses clearly for patients.

2. Treatment Planning and Therapy Management

? Creating Treatment Plans: Develop a personalized pathway/guideline based plan of care. Plan of care may include a mix targeted medications and systemic treatments.

? Administering Procedures: Disease specific, duties can include overseeing Chemotherapy, immunotherapy, transfusions, radiotherapy an oral agents.

? Managing Side Effects: Responsible for monitoring patient reactions and adjusting medications to mitigate the physical toll of aggressive cancer treatments.

3. Patient Care and Multidisciplinary Collaboration

? Disease Management: Monitoring and management of cancers, malignant and benign hematological disorders. Makes plan of care adjustments according

? Coordinating Care: Frequently collaborates with radiation oncologists, surgical oncologists, pathologists, and nursing teams to deliver a comprehensive approach to patient wellness.

? Research and Clinical Trials: Conducts and/ or reviews clinical research to apply the latest advancements and gene therapies to their patients' treatment plans.

4. Professional Role

? Hospital affiliation and privileges. Participation on hospital board or committee representation for HOACNY.

? Maintains professional affiliations and enhances professional growth and development to keep current in the latest trends in healthcare.

? Maintains required practice RVU requirement and CME for certification.

? Maintain accurate medical records and comply with all regulatory requirements.

? Contribute to the growth and reputation of the practice through patient care excellence.

? Participate in tumor board discussions, collaborating with other providers to evaluate complex and optimize treatments strategies.

? Maintains strictest confidentiality.

? Performs related work as required.

? Attends required physician meetings, tumor boards and participates in HOACNY activities as requested.

EDUCATION: MD or DO degree from accredited school of medicine and board- certified in Hematology and Oncology.Certificate/License: Actively licensed to practice medicine in the United States and in good standing with the medical board(s) in states issued licensure to practice medicine.
