Position Overview:
The Commercial Garage Door Technician Helper supports experienced technicians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial garage doors, dock equipment, operators, and related systems. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals who are mechanically inclined, eager to learn a skilled trade, and interested in building a long-term career in the garage door industry.
Responsibilities:
- Assist lead technicians with the installation, service, maintenance, and repair of commercial garage doors and related equipment
- Support repairs involving springs, cables, tracks, rollers, operators, and hardware components
- Transport tools, materials, and equipment to and from job sites safely and efficiently
- Load and unload materials, equipment, and supplies from company vehicles
- Perform basic construction and installation tasks, including drilling, cutting, fastening, and assembling components under direct supervision
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all job sites
- Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA regulations
- Operate company vehicles and equipment safely and responsibly when authorized
- Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, and supervisors
- Complete other duties and projects as assigned
Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
- Ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screening
- Reliable transportation to report to the shop and assigned job sites
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn a skilled trade
- Ability to work at heights, including ladders, lifts, and elevated work platforms
- Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, and standing
- Repetitive use of hands, wrists, and arms while performing installation and repair tasks
- Physically capable of lifting up to 75 lbs. and climbing ladders
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions
