Position Objective:
To manage benefits, federal and state leaves, and ensure compliant administration for the organizations’ staff members
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
• Manage benefit plans in compliance with ACA guidelines, including managing open enrollment process and communications, analyzing, and making suggestions
• Counsel and assist PETA Foundation and supported organizations’ staff members regarding benefit choices and claims
• Develop and deliver state-required trainings to supervisors and employees
• Work with supervisors and Managing General Counsel, Corporate Legal Affairs to respond to unemployment claims
• Manage federal and state leave plans and accommodation requests
• Work with departments and Deputy General Counsel, Corporate Legal Affairs, on workers compensation claims
• Manage Benefits and Compliance Assistant
• Assist with advising employees and management on dispute resolution, performance issues, and the interpretation of correct application of policies and procedures with diplomacy and tact to secure a resolution
• Review state and federal reports
• Assist in maintaining and updating policies and documents
• Serve as backup for all Senior Director of Compliance’s tasks, including conducting and processing terminations
• Conduct research on various compliance-related topics
• Maintain strict confidentiality at all times
• Perform any other duties assigned by supervisor
• Five years of related experience in HR or other related administrative support
• Demonstrated strong analytical skills
• Proven ability to communicate professionally in a public and business environment
• Minimum three years of experience with employee benefits administration
• Proven effective project-management skills
• Thorough understanding of government regulatory guidelines regarding workers’ compensation, COBRA, ADA, OSHA, and FMLA
• Proven ability to make sound judgments and work independently
• Effective research skills
• Proven ability to exercise professional discretion
• Self-motivation and the proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
• Ability to utilize an HRIS such as Paylocity
• Professional appearance and adherence to a vegan lifestyle
• Commitment to the objectives of the organization
The hourly pay range for this position is $23.46 - $32.32. The ultimate hourly pay within this range that will be offered to a qualified candidate will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and the cost of living in the area in which the candidate will live and work.
