This position is contingent upon contract award and supports an active proposal effort.

ALEX – Alternative Experts is seeking experienced Software Developers at multiple levels (Software Developer, Senior Software Developer, and Senior Web Developer) to support Joint Force Development programs within a DoD environment.

• This role supports the design, development, and deployment of software applications and web-based solutions that enable mission-critical systems, data management, and operational capabilities across DoD programs. Candidates will work in a collaborative environment supporting modern development practices, system integration, and secure application delivery.

The Software Developer provides support including, but not limited to, the following:

• Designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software applications and systems
• Translating functional and technical requirements into scalable solutions
• Writing and optimizing code across backend and/or frontend systems
• Supporting system integration, data interfaces, and application performance improvements
• Conducting testing, debugging, and troubleshooting activities
• Developing technical documentation to support system design and functionality
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery of solutions

Senior / Lead-Level Additional Responsibilities

• Leading development efforts and mentoring junior developers
• Designing system architecture and scalable application frameworks
• Supporting integration, system testing, and deployment activities
• Managing development timelines, tasks, and deliverables
• Contributing to technical strategy and solution design decisions

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

• Experience supporting DoD or federal government programs
• Experience working in secure or classified environments
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies
• Experience with backend, frontend, or full-stack development
• Knowledge of cloud environments and modern development frameworks
• Experience with API development, system integration, and data pipelines
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Education and Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Leveling Guidance:

• Software Developer: Entry to mid-level experience in software development
• Senior Software Developer: 5+ years of experience in software engineering
• Senior Web Developer: 5+ years of experience in web-based application development
