Cary Medical Center is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our Acute Care Unit.
In this role, you’ll manage incoming information via telephone, call bell, and direct conversation — ensuring communication flows smoothly and patients receive timely attention. You’ll also assist with up-staffing and down-staffing for the current and incoming shifts in collaboration with the Charge Nurse, Supervisor, and Nurse Manager, and perform CNA functions as needed.

Essential Job Duties:
- Promotes patient safety and abides by the patient fall risk program and completes fall risk rounding at least twice per shift.
- Obtains and documents vital signs and reports abnormal findings to patient's nurse.
- Performs daily weights and reports abnormal findings to patient's nurse.
- Appropriately documents ADLs, ambulation, intake and output, vital signs, weights, safety rounding, and any other patient care activities performed throughout shift.
- Ensures that patients have fresh water, while appropriately observing patients with NPO status or fluid restrictions.
- Assists patients with activities of daily living along with providing them with supplies.
- Assists in ambulating patient according to physician order.
- Has ability to sit 1: 1 with patients requiring such supervision.
- Ensures that patient's rooms have an updated whiteboard, are tidy, and free of clutter.
- Appropriately sets up a patient room for admission. Changes linens on beds daily and when soiled.
- Removes all linens from patient rooms after discharge and before housekeeping begins the terminal cleaning of the room.
- Replaces telemetry leads and/or batteries on patients as needed.
- Able to document patient name, date and time on computer for telemetry patients.
- Performs weekly eyewash station checks every 7 days.
- Checks patient refrigerator daily for dates on open containers and expired items.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
- Complies with local, state and federal laws and regulations.
- Must have an active valid CNA certificate in Maine.
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Obtains BLS certification within 1 year of hire into this position and maintains current certification thereafter.
- Completes CNA basic rhythms review.
Schedule:
- Shift: 5:30am-5:30pm
- With consideration to our patients’ and staff needs, you may need to work on days, evenings, nights, weekends and/or holidays and may need to float to other units.
