ALEX – Alternative Experts is seeking a Web/Data Content Manager to support the management, governance, and optimization of digital content within a federal environment. This role is responsible for maintaining web-based content, ensuring compliance with federal standards, and supporting data-driven insights to improve user engagement and system effectiveness. The position requires expertise in content management systems, web accessibility, and data governance practices, as well as the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
- Manage and maintain digital content across web platforms, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with organizational standards
- Develop, edit, and publish web content aligned with communication objectives, policies, and messaging strategies
- Administer and maintain content using Content Management Systems (CMS) platforms
- Ensure compliance with federal standards, including Section 508 accessibility requirements and cybersecurity considerations
- Apply Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices to improve site usability and visibility
- Monitor and analyze website performance using analytics tools to inform content strategy and user engagement
- Support data governance efforts, including metadata management, data cataloging, and content alignment with enterprise frameworks
- Maintain digital archives and ensure compliance with records retention and content lifecycle policies
- Collaborate with developers, designers, content creators, and stakeholders to support content updates and approvals
- Utilize working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript to support web updates and troubleshooting
- Ensure proper implementation of Operational Security (OPSEC) considerations in published content
Required Experience:
- 3–5+ years of experience managing digital content, preferably in federal or defense environments
- Experience using Content Management Systems (CMS) to manage, update, and publish content
- Knowledge of federal web policies, including Section 508 accessibility and security requirements
- Experience applying SEO techniques to improve site performance and user engagement
- Experience using analytics tools to evaluate content effectiveness and inform decision-making
- Experience managing digital assets and maintaining structured content archives
- Experience working in cross-functional teams supporting web content, UX/UI, and technical development
- Understanding of data governance principles, including metadata management and data organization
- Working knowledge of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience supporting federal or DoD digital platforms
- Familiarity with enterprise content governance and publishing workflows
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Training and Certifications:
- Certified Web Accessibility Specialist (CWAS); OR
- Google Analytics Certification
- Additional certifications related to digital content management, accessibility, or data governance are a plus
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Web Development, Information Technology, or related field with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience;
- OR Associate degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
