The Sanctuary Golf Club, a prestigious member-owned private golf club located on Sanibel Island, FL is accepting resumes for a full-time Seasonal Assistant Golf Professional to work October 2026 - May 2027 (some flexibility with start and end dates).


Founded in 1992, The Sanctuary and surrounding community encompass 500 acres and is the only private club in the country that lies within a U.S. Wildlife Preserve. The Sanctuary is Audubon International Certified and a five-star rated Platinum Club that has been awarded over 25 accolades from around the world including: Platinum Club of America, Platinum Club of the World - Top 100, The Club of Excellence, Exceptional status by Boardroom Distinguished and 2026 AGM Platinum Golf Shop Best of the Best distinction. 


The goal of the The Sanctuary's Golf Program is to be the premier golf experience in Southwest Florida for its Members. The Sanctuary Golf Club takes pride in offering unmatched service, impeccably facilitated tournaments, and a state-of-the-art instructional program.


The ideal candidate will be passionate about growing the game and will play an active role in enhancing and promoting the Club's Women's Golf Program, in particular, through clinics, individual instruction, tournaments, Member engagement, and innovative programming, while supporting all areas of golf operations. 


COMPENSATION:  $22.00 per hour, with additional earnings available through teaching and golf instruction.

Requirements

The Seasonal Assistant Golf Professional assists the overall Golf Operations by providing exceptional Member and Guest service while assisting with the management of the Golf Shop, daily golf activities, merchandising, retail operations, and tee time coordination.

  

• Greets and assists Members and Guests in a warm, friendly, and professional manner.

• Provides excellent customer service through phone, tee time scheduling, and responding to Member needs.

• Maintains a visible and helpful presence during peak periods of play.

• Ensures the Golf Shop remains clean, organized, and aesthetically pleasing.

• Operates Club Essential POS system accurately for all transactions.

• Assists with receiving, unboxing, tagging, and preparing merchandise.

• Maintains inventory levels and monitors restocking needs.

• Creates merchandising displays and supports promotional sales events.

• Assists with monthly physical inventory counts and reporting.

• Helps maintain Member preference and sizing databases.

• Assists with tee sheet management and daily play coordination.

• Supports Outside Service Professionals when needed.

• Enforces Club rules and policies.

• Administers Club tournaments using Golf Genius tournament software.

• Coordinates with Food & Beverage, Green and Grounds, and other departments for event needs.

• Handles entry fee collection, distribution, and tournament budgets.

• Provides individual and group lessons.

• Represents the Club in approved professional events.

• Attends and participates in staff meetings.

• Performs opening and closing procedures of the Golf Shop.

• Assists in improvements to operational procedures.

• Ensures compliance with safety and employment laws.

• Performs other duties assigned by the Director of Golf, Lead Assistant or Merchandise Manager.


Education, Experience and Requirements

  

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
  • Two years of Private Club experience preferred.
  • PGA Member or Associate desirable. PGA Class A preferred.
  • Experience running tournaments and golf events preferred.
  • Exceptional professionalism, communication, and service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to multitask under pressure.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Club Essential POS / Tee Sheet, Golf Genius and other golf related software.
  • Availability for weekends and holidays.
  • Passion for the game of golf and Member engagement.


Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  

· Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. 

· Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.

· Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical   shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

· Able to meet and perform physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.

· Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping and pulling. 

· Frequent repetitive motions. 

· Continuous standing and walking.
