ABOUT THE COMPANY
We’ve been building businesses on Amazon for nearly 20 years and we continue to be on the forefront as Amazon platforms evolve. We’re uncomfortable calling ourselves experts — since Amazon is always changing, we’re constantly adapting — but the breadth of our knowledge is vast and our team’s diverse experiences elevate our partners’ businesses. We’re marketers, advocates, data scientists, supply chain managers, Amazonians, advertisers and merchants. But most importantly, we’re brand builders. Let’s build brands together.
POSITION OVERVIEW
GO is seeking a senior leader to lead and shape our data and analytics strategy — defining how we build, access, and activate data to drive client growth and organizational decision-making. This leader will assess where we stand today, identify gaps, and develop a clear point of view on what we build internally versus what we source externally, ensuring our team can move quickly, work at scale, and deliver the macro-level intelligence our clients and business demand.
The ideal candidate is equally at home partnering with data engineers to architect, implement and optimize data systems as they are analyzing performance data across a diverse set of metrics. Strong expertise in retail performance, digital advertising strategy, and Amazon analytics & insights (including AMC and Omnichannel Metrics) is essential, with solid familiarity across the broader data infrastructure landscape.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Data Ownership & Infrastructure Strategy
- Lead the long-term data roadmap for the data analytics team, balancing internal development priorities against the evolving capabilities of third-party platforms — and making clear, well-supported recommendations for investments that will accelerate our team's ability to move fast and grow businesses.
- Partner with our internal data and engineering team to design, build, and manage the data infrastructure that gives brand teams and analysts reliable, scalable access to the data external vendor tools cannot support — serving as the primary business stakeholder driving requirements and priorities..
- Ensure our data architecture enables analysts to work at the macro level: running cross-client, category-wide, ad product-level, and organization-wide analyses that drive strategic insight — not just account-level reporting.
Analytics & Measurement
- Lead GO's analytics vision and measurement frameworks spanning retail health, advertising performance, brand growth, and operational efficiency.
- Serve as the organization's go-to expert on Amazon Marketing Cloud (AMC), Omnichannel Metrics, and upper funnel media measurement — connecting awareness efforts to downstream conversion.
- Oversee development of standardized dashboards and automated reporting tools, ensuring analysts have the data access and tooling to conduct analyses at both the account and macro level.
- Cultivate and maintain a direct relationship with Amazon's analytics and insights teams to stay ahead of new measurement products and opportunities.
Technology & Vendor Evaluation
- Evaluate third-party analytics and data platforms with a critical lens — assessing not just what they offer and the innovation in development, but where they fall short and whether an internal build would better serve our team’s needs.
- Manage existing vendor relationships and contracts, advocating for GO’s priorities on partner roadmaps while maintaining flexibility to transition providers when warranted.
- Define GO’s AI strategy and oversee responsible evaluation and implementation of AI tools that improve team efficiency and client outcomes.
- Partner with the Director of Ad Product to ensure technology integrations keep pace with the evolving Amazon advertising ecosystem.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Business Development, Retail, Operations, and Advertising leadership to align data infrastructure and analytics capabilities with organizational growth priorities.
- Enable client-facing teams to confidently communicate performance insights through accessible, standardized reporting and compelling data narratives.
- Partner with internal stakeholders and leadership to understand organizational analytics needs, champion the right tools and solutions, and lead efforts to ensure successful adoption by guiding behavior change.
- Build and lead a high-performing analytics organization, fostering a culture of curiosity, rigor, and speed.
- Manage technology budgets and lead GO’s IT function, including infrastructure and systems administration.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in analytics, data strategy, or related roles; at least 7 years in senior leadership, building and managing teams.
- Deep expertise in Amazon Advertising and related measurement tools, including AMC, Omnichannel Metrics, media mix modeling, etc.
- A track record of evaluating analytics solutions and successfully championing the right solutions to best serve team needs.
- Experience managing technology vendor relationships, including contract negotiation and roadmap advocacy.
- Experience evaluating and implementing AI platforms in a commercial environment; working knowledge of data privacy regulations and responsible AI principles.
- Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Business, or related field; advanced degree (MBA, MS) strongly preferred.
- Travel up to 15% required.
Technical Skills
- Deep experience with data visualization platforms (Tableau, Looker, or similar).
- Proficiency with programming languages (SQL, Python, and similar) and solid working knowledge of data engineering principles — including pipeline architecture, data warehousing, API integrations, and access layer design.
- Expertise in business analysis, including strategic & predictive analysis, operational & evaluative analysis, and advanced data science concepts.
- Deep knowledge of Amazon analytics tools: Brand Analytics, Vendor/Seller Central, Advertising Console, and AMC.
- Hands-on familiarity with third-party analytics platforms (e.g., MerchantSpring, Skai, DataHawk, XPN) and the ability to critically assess their limitations for multi-client or macro-level analyses.
Leadership & Competencies
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute data and technology roadmaps aligned to business strategy.
- Exceptional communicator — able to translate complex data and infrastructure concepts for C-level executives, clients, and cross-functional teams alike.
- Strategic operator: equally comfortable in the weeds with an engineering team as presenting a roadmap to senior leadership.
- Systems-oriented problem solver who designs for scale and long-term team capability, not just immediate fixes.
- Natural curiosity for emerging technology; comfortable navigating ambiguity as tools, platforms, and organizational needs evolve.
- Collaborative consensus builder who can also drive difficult “build vs. rent” decisions when the data supports it.
